I am coming out to Vegas Feb. 24-28 with a friend. There was supposed to be 4 but now is only 2 of us. I had reservations at the Quad, but with all the horror stories I have read I am a little scared to stay there. I cancelled my reservation, and am now in the dilemma of I don't know where to stay. I really can't afford more that 70 dollars a night, but I'm not sure what kind of value I can get. I have tried promo code websites and all that, nothing really is all that great after you add in the resort fees. Any help at all would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

Have you considered the Orleans or Gold Coast? I can recommend both highly; and although I don't have time at the moment to check rates, they're bound to be "competitive" or better than most Strip properties.

Oh, did you really cancel a reservation before booking another? That's a no-no, though it's probably a low risk move in February.

Looks like you can get Bally's and Harrah's for those dates for less than $150 before Tax for the total trip. Both of those properties will be much nicer than the quad.

Not quite sure where you are getting those prices. A look at Harrah's comes up with $298.52 for 2/20-24.

If you want to try downtown, you could book Main Street Station for $40 per night for Wed & Thur. Then maybe move somewhere else because their prices jump to $110 for Fri & Sat.

On the strip that will probably be tough especially if you do not have points at a casino to use toward a room. Your best bets on the strip will be Ballys, usually around 80 a night and a bit more on the weekend. Palms might be a place to look at as well, but I dont like the fact its off the strip. If you want to stay downtown, just about anywhere down there will keep you within or under your $70 budget. I know the Plaza has rooms for $30ish a night in the week and some weekends. You now have to add in a $10 or so resort fee though now.

If this is your first or second trip to Vegas (your profile shows 1 trip), you're probably still in the Strip mode, ie don't wanna stay off strip. Ballys/Harrahs/Flamingo will be your best CET options. Monte Carlo/Excal/Luxor will probably be your cheaper MGM options. All are mid-low range. All perfectly acceptable for their room rates they charge.

    It's a time investment

If you and your friend don't mind investing a little time, you can play the MyVegas game on Facebook and earn enough points to get a few nights comped at one of the lower tier MGM properties. If you look through the threads here, there are tips to maximize your winnings without any cash investment. Good luck!

eta- Hooters is not much better than The Quad.

Bally's, TI and MC are the best options I am seeing checking Expedia. Hooters would probably as much of a gamble as the Quad. It has its fans but for your budget, you can get so much more they what they have to offer.

As Bizzy said, stay at Bally's or Planet Hollywood and click on friends and family. For about $35 per night for Feb.24-28 at Bally's or about $45 per night at Planet Hollywood is too good a deal to pass up. When you arrive after the booking, be sure to get a TR card which can be used at all of Harrah's hotels, (Quad, Flamingo, Harrah's, CP, Bally's, Rio, Paris). This will put points on your card and can be used on your next trip, or could be used for food, merchandise, etc. on this trip. There are NO resort fees at CET properties. I'm staying at Bally's in April/May and my rooms are Comped because i accumulated enough points on my last trip in November.
P.S. Don't stay at Hooters Hotel..........there are plenty of Hooters on the Strip for free...hehe.

just bumped around on the "I4VEGAS" website and they have the CET properties Feb 24-28 at an average of (Flamingo $40, Harrahs $36, Bally's $29) all within your budget and they do not change a resort fee. Off strip the Hard Rock was at an average of $39 for Feb 24-28.

I will be there Feb 27th- March 4th the only night I could not get comped was Saturday so I am staying 4 nights at Monte Carlo 3 of them comped I had to pay $119 for the Saturday night. I then called Total rewards and was able to the last 2 nights comped at Harrahs so total 6 night stay including my resort fees at MC is $179 So if you have total rewards or MLife I would call and see if they would what they might be able to comp. it doesnt hurt to try. Good Luck!

Looks like OP has one trip to Vegas. Where did you play before? You might be able to get a deal (not a promo) as a past player.

    Are your dates locked in?

Has the other person going with you been to Vegas before? Assume you want strip (I would).

To the OP...........if you click on this: http://www.harrahs.com/VegasVacation/index.html

You'll get great discounts even if you're not a member yet. Check out the TR page and book your room for Feb.24-28 and at the same time click JOIN IN to become a member. Bally's is $30 and Planet Hollywood is $40. At this time i would stay away from Harrah's, Quad, and Flamingo due to construction. And Total Rewards have NO resort.

You could have stayed at Harrah's for $80 (Fri.-Sat....then the other 4 nights comped) for 6 nights instead of paying $178 on Feb. 27-March 4. Why pay for Resort fees if you don't have to?

Never been to the quad myself but like you have heard horror stories and probably wouldn't book unless they renovate their rooms with all of the other renovations to the place but I have read not to expect that anytime soon. I would call the total rewards reservation number and check rates and tell them what your working with and they will give you the Family and Friends rate over the phone if you ask for it. Friday and Saturday is going to be the highest nights but at Harrahs, Flamingo, Bally's or even maybe Planet Hollywood they maybe able to work you something that stays under your per night average. Don't know if it would help but you can sign up for a a total rewards card online and it might help somewhat. With the best rate guarantee you can call back every so often and check current rates and they will let adjust on the spot for the cheaper rate

Harrah's gives you the basics...no frills, great location.

It all comes down to what you want in a trip. Usually in the winter I stay at a nicer place because I spend more time in the room vs. during the summer when I'm at the pools.
