    Monday Morning ----
Not even 5 mins !!!..... inside the door of the job ----
This miserable person, who thinks they're the boss --
raises her voice at me from down the hallway.
    ( I had a nice,quiet, VERY PRODUCTIVE, 2.5 hrs of work
    before her arrival )
I turned and answered her berating voice with.......
"Do not address me in that tone of voice.....we all know how you hate
Monday mornings and are miserable about being here.......but DON'T talk to me in
THAT tone of voice !....or take it out on me !"
    *
    Her look of stupidity.......and silence....was beautiful !
Bully's get confounded when confronted.......nobody else in the building will confront,
cos the boss has her back.
    *
    However,
    I was pissed.
Went back to work.......and MY productivity waned, as I mulled over
the stupdity I have to deal with........and knowing FULL WELL ---
I will now have a visit from the Boss ( as soon as the miserable person can
run to her office to complain ).
    *
Boss comes in 5 mins later :
The soft, soothing voice......"Good morning......is something wrong ?"
I explained very briefly that I should not be subject to poor behavior +
THAT person needs to be spoken to......not me.
Boss says : "....or what ?"
    *
    ****** Or What ?*****
    I didn't say "or what ?"
My boss is BAITING me to say something she can "write my up" for ---
Like I'm gonna say "Or....I'll smack her upside the head."
    DUH !!!!!?????
    *
    Anyway -
My productivity went WAY down......cos I was pissed....
and didn't care......if someone can get away with sh*t.....okay then...F- It.
    The Boss should realize this.
    *

And that was my wonderful start to the work week........
......when the hell is my next Vegas trip ?

I would have replied, in my sunniest voice, "Good Morning, Philomena, is it that time of month already?"

Some people are not happy unless they are unhappy......like some gamblers can't quit until they are out of $'s......just can't do it!
Next time try looking up about 4 or 5 seconds after she sounds off and ask "Sorry, I was engrossed in my task (or somesuch) and missed what you said"....let her repeat if she wishes and then look quizzically at her and express confusion or failure to understand her message. Keep it up and see how many times you can get her to be negative. You can do over-unders and all kinds of neat stuff with other staff.
To the boss.... Or what? I would have said or I will just have to ignore her unpleasantness next time and she will simply think I am rude. What do YOU think I should do next Monday?......

The rest of The Staff are amazed at what I do already.
NONE of them has the guts.....they know the boss favors this bully.
So, they laugh w/ glee at my confontational attitude.........but I always pay for it.

Every office has their cranky and b*tchy people. You need to learn to ignore the bad behavior and not reinforce it! (Skinnerism 101)

My boilerplate reply to unsolicited rudeness at work has always been, "I can see you want to be left alone for a while." When said in an even tone there's not much chance of getting into any trouble and it will usually stop the offender dead in their tracks with not much of a comeback. The key is to say it in an almost sympathetic manner and then smile and walk away.

Sorry to say it Joe but they speak that way to you because they know they can. Some vibe or signal you are sending off is allowing that sort of behavior.

Only you will know what this is.

Correct this and it will stop.

Worse than the grumpy and cranky people at work are the drama queens (often male!) :) who it seems are in families that make the Honey Boo Boo gang seem like the Cleavers by comparison!

    Eddie -
You are right, in this respect.
I'm a "working man" -- I am the ONLY one in the building.
The rest are suits + skirts.
I have told my boss numerous times --
"If I said this stuff to a woman employee - I'd be disciplined or fired --
but when your female assistant says it "oh, you're a big guy - you can take it."
    Double standard, here !
