What's the scoop on Downtown Grand towers and rooms?

I'm headed out on May 9th this year and am going to stay at DTG this time. On their reservations website, I see basically two different options for King Bed Rooms. There are rooms decorated in a lime green theme at 350sf for $79 and there are rooms decorated in the red theme at 450sf for $99.

What's the difference other than the decor and size? Is one specific to one tower or the other?

For anyone who has stayed, should I care which tower I am in or is it pretty easy to get to either?

Stayed there for a weekend last month. Not sure if rooms are specific to a certain tower. We had a "green" room and it was in the tower across the street from lobby and casino. However...EASY to get to. Just a quick escalator ride up and then across a skywalk. Easy!

And - we loved the place! Nice escape from the party that is Freemont - and it's just a short walk. Mob bar is fun! Great burgers at commissary too. Really enjoyed the place. Have fun!

Was just in a room in the West Tower. Not sure if there's a difference between two towers, but room was nice. A little bit longer walk from the casino/lobby, but I asked for something quiet facing away from the 3rd street.

You're welcome. You'll have to report back how you liked it. I'm curious about the pool area...it wasnt open when we were there but it looked nice. If you like cool bars be sure and check out The Laundry Room downtown..best discovery of the recent trip for me!

I checked into Downtown Grand yesterday in a deluxe room, the green room. The room itself is fine but it does lack some things. This is just my random comments. There is no iron, I believe I read in another post that you can request one. The bed is very soft, personally I would prefer a firmer mattress. The pillows are huge and soft, again I'd prefer a little firmer. This is an issue for me because I'm dealing with some hip and knee problems and the pillows are too big to comfortably fit between my knees. I asked for a room high up and not facing 4th street. They got that for me and I could hear music from either the 3rd street entrance or the Gold Spike, by the time I went to sleep the music had stopped. The free morning coffee is good. The half glass door in the shower did not cause any problems for me. I did not make a big mess at all. The shallow sink is okay I guess but when I shave it may prove to be a mess. The furniture isn't much, pretty minimalist. It reminds me of a South Beach hotel I stayed in. The Rush tower room at GN was nicer.

People in the casino are nice here. The beer list is worse than I feared, not even Sam Adams, I had a Heinekin. It wasn't dead last night but it wasn't Saturday night packed. They comped my beer when playing at the bar.

One thing nnoyed me but it is colored by my own issues and I recognize that. I arrived close to 3:00 but the room wasn't ready. At 4:00 they called me like they said they would. It would normally be annoying but I really needed to ice my knee and lay down. I could not sit anymore after the flight until I iced and stretched. I was a mess and not happy. I got a slice at Pizza Rock, ate it while walking to MSS, played some VP and then went back to Downtown Grand. At least I won at VP at MSS. Although I got four of a kind and forgot to get the scratch off ticket. Oh well, lol. Still happy I got the quads! Anyway, I was surprised and annoyed that the room was not ready. I was not the only one who had to wait. I would be more understanding if I showed up at 1:00, but to wait until 4:00 seemed excessive.
