This may have been asked many times before but, other than the obvious get to the hotel, check in, etc are there any 'must do's' when you arrive? Mine has always been to get my first comped drink at slots before checking in. I just feel I have truly arrived and am ready to go once I have that first cold one!

There's no set pattern for us, but a common occurrence is ... heading to the first tee. If we go straight to the hotel, I'd say we case the casino and go get a drink and play VP at the bar.

The last trip I hit up the liquor store in the Airport for a couple of beers for the limo ride to the hotel. We usually travel with FIL, MIL, SIL, and BIL. So usually need a couple for the ride

Get the spreadsheets from the Book.

While one of us is checking in the other goes and gets the sheets, then we go over the lines while waiting to check in. Then the Book to place bets if there is a game coming up soon.

If there is no check in line we just check in and head straight to the Book, then the room.

After the usual check-in, register for tournament, get to room, unpack extravaganza, we usually pour a nice stiff drink and stare out the window while we get into "Vegas Mode." Then with a good buzz started we hit the floor for some action.

Then we go downstairs and gamble. :wink2:

Bourbon on the rocks and a hot bath...start slow and try to contain my enthusiasm
because I know I want to drop my bags and run down to the casino floor

a nice, slow hot bath (which I never take at home) gives me that "you just got here" perspective and demeanor

Check out the view from the hotel room, find out if the bed is comfy, then shower and change into fresh clothes. 15 hours or more on planes and in airports = not really public friendly... Then, slots and a drink or two. The rest depends on the time of day.

In-N-Out for a bunch of animal-style bliss, check in at the hotel, then shower (with a drink or two), change, and gamble.

Actually I will check out my room first. I make it a habit to check for bedbugs just in case (never encountered it anywhere but been reading too many horror stories so I make it a habit to check anyway). After that I usually try to unpack my stuff that I will be using/wearing, hanging up stuff that can get wrinkled and putting away my electronics (laptop or notebook, camera, etc.) in the safe.

I did have a problem one time, at the El Cortez my non smoking room had the strong odor of cig smoke so I asked to move to another room. That room also had a slight odor of cig smoke but it wasn't that bad and they came up to febreeze it. At the El Cortez another time my room a/c didn't work so I again asked to move to another room so I usually check out the room first so I can move if the room is unacceptable.

That done I will venture out and see about buying bottled water so I will have something to drink. After "settling" in then I will see about gambling but there have been times where I didn't gamble the first day because I had other things to do first. With my January 2016 trip to the CES I will probably gamble the night I arrive but then be busy all day at the convention for the next 3 days so will only have a few hours to gamble on those days.

After checking in and freshening up I always go straight to Sirrico's @ NYNY for food. Never eat any food just snacks on the way to Vegas. So by the time i get to Vegas I am starving. Sirrico's always hits the spot for me.

The first thing I do? Take my cell phone out of airplane mode. Pretty much the same for all cities.

That's pretty much what i do. Get to the room, make a drink.. and just sit and enjoy the view. I might have to shower and get ready or just catch a buzz and head down, but i always like to sit and soak it in.

Grab a bottle and some mixers and grab the odds sheets from sports book. Hang up the fancy shirts and slacks in the closet. Get the envelopes in the safe, and the it's go time!
