I'd like to know what all of you out there feel is the reason(s) that sets Vegas apart from the rest of the cities/vacation destinations. Entertainment? Dining? Nightclubs? Shopping? Sightseeing? Stripclubs? Brothels? I might've missed some things mentioned above, but isn't all of these things available in any major city? So if more emphasis is given to all of these things except gambling, would Vegas really be able to increase their visitor count (as discussed in the Casino Industry and Development thread)? In my opinion, Vegas is set apart from the rest because of the gambling AND all of the above. I know several friends who admit that they enjoy attending business conferences and conventions in Vegas because of the gambling. I'm pretty sure many people who attend these events feel the same way. And we all know Vegas has a LOT of conventions. So, what do you think? Can Vegas still increase their visitor count if less and less emphasis is given to gambling, along with the comps and perks that come with it? I for one don't think so.
