Is it just a quick swipe of the card to verify its valid? Or do they actually check names? Assuming I have a total of 4 room keys.

I just want to know whether I need to pony up the extra $30/person per day ($180/total :vomit:) to have two girlfriends with us. It would be nice to avoid that highway robbery if possible. Is it super strict? I have heard different things.

I am not trying to be overly cheap, but that extra $180 can go a long way, but if its necessary I will pay it, so please dont accuse me of stealing your pool chairs ;)

ALSO, do they allow bottled (sealed) water into the pool area? Thanks! Last question before take off! :nworthy:

    My experience last week was:

--They don't swipe room cards at all, or ask for a name. You simply flash it to the guy at the entrance.

--Bags were not being searched, so if you had a bottle of water or two in your bag, or a bottle of some other liquid, no one would know. Don't bring glass to the pool, obviously.

--In the morning at least, the guys at the front had no problem with guests bringing a coffee, muffin, etc. out to the pool from the Roasted Bean coffee shop just inside. This despite the huge "NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR DRINK ALLOWED" signs right at the front.

Just wear cargo shorts out to the pool and slip some drinks into the side pockets. Probably can get four drinks in like that. Might be a challenge keeping them cold though for very long.

Aren't your girlfriends staying with you? Why would they have to pay extra?

The rooms are based on double occupancy in Vegas, therefore they decide to upcharge each extra person $30/extra per day. two extra is $60 a day to use the same bed, probably the same towels placed in the room etc. Its robbery in my eyes. I am sure others disagree, but its way too much money.

I will be glad to tip housekeeping for a few extra towels...but $60/day extra, on top of the $25/day resort fee. Give me a break.

You won't have any problem, as long as the gf's walk in with you, you will only need to show one key per couple. Mirage has never swiped keys at the pool or checked names in all the times I have stayed there. If you are really concerned, just ask for 4 keys when you check in. The front desk attendants could care less if you sleeping 4 ppl in a room and not paying the extra money for occupancy.

Really? One key per couple? Nice. I hope this is true. I was planning on asking for two keys per guy. Not an unreasonable request. I end up losing one every trip.

    Thanks!

I've walked in with 3-4 people and showing just one key before. One couple should be no problem.

I've stayed at Mirage many times and this has always been my experience. They just have you flash the room key and they've never once searched my wife's beach bag. Although I've never tried to bring something in from the outside (I don't drink coffee).

Dude, you are getting WAY too worried about this. There are no name checks. 4 room keys will be more than enough to get your group admitted every day. One key per 2 people would never be questioned at the Mirage pool..you are not trying to enter the Encore Beach Club :)

Please do be sure to tip housekeeping well. They are the ones working harder because you have four people in the room instead of 2, so reward them accordingly!

I agree with you that paying the $30/day extra person charge is ridiculous, and I'm sure the housekeepers never see a penny of THAT money!
