I don't mind paying slightly over $100/night for a room, I've done it for NYE twice.

I just made a trip for my birthday and the rates at the MGM properties are very much above what I thought it would be for the first week of March.

Are there any conventions going on at that time? Just thought it was weird :evillaugh

Beginning of march is usually when NASCAR race is held in LV but I am not sure of the schedule for this year.

I think NASCAR and March Madness are a bit later than March 3rd.

I've noticed the same thing. We are there from Mar3-6 and both the hotel rates and car rental rates are higher than expected. Cant find a car for less than 150 for three days. And most of the hotel rates are 100+ even after book early discounts.

Are you sure? I don't follow NASCAR, but I always thought the events were on the weekend, not week days.

March 8-10 says the LVMS website but they might have adjacent events earlier in the week? Still doesn't explain March 3. When is the broadcasting convention?

March 3rd is our 40th anniversary, so I think EVERYONE is celebrating! Actually, I've been checking flights and wondering why it was high for that time.

Also the WCC and WAC basketball tournaments are that week, starting on the 6th I believe.

United had a $297 dollar roundtrip from Chicago to LAS, compared to SWA and AA its cheaper. I normally fly AA or SWA but I may take United for that one.

I thought Wynn daily rates were 100-150 per night but they were almost 300/night starting Sunday, March 3rd. MGM Grand, Bellagio, Aria, Cosmo are all almost 200/night starting March 3rd.

I haven't played at a CET property in a while, however, I logged in and they were comping me PH, Flamingo, Ballys, Harrahs and so on except Caesars. So I took a comp in a regular room at PH. I've stayed there before but you can't be free in the middle of the strip.

Now, gotta figure out how to bring in my 30s with a big bang!!:evillaugh
