What does the resort fee at the Quad REALLY cover?

I went to use the fitness center at the quad and it was closed. There was a sign there saying to use the gym at harrahs. When I went to harrahs they told me I would still need to pay 10$ because the resort fee at the quad does not cover fitness access.

I tried connecting to the wireless at the quad, and it was the same old screen before the resort fees, asking for payment for either 24 hours or a 3 day package.

    Covers Things that are Free

It covers things that almost every hotel in the world provide for free. Use of the pool, exercise room, local and 800 calls, and coffee in the guest rooms are the typical excuses. It's simply an additonal fee for nothing in return.

I believe the internet that is included is the wired internet, not WiFi.

It's kind of a rip off! I get that the other Caesars properties needed to start charging because of the times, but Imperial Palace? They change the name and the sign and suddenly its a resort? It's pretty weak, the ammenities you are getting are given free by most places. When I do want to stay at a resort style place its usually Orleans and the resort fee is $6 which includes a sweet pool, fitness center, coffee and a newspaper.

I have never stayed in a hotel and paid a resort fee were internet and fitness center is not included. Its to funny if a dump like Quad start nickel and diming people for resort fees and dont even include things that other properties do. If internet and fitness center is not included, wtf are you paying for then? It sure as hell cant be that disgusting pool area.

You know what it covers? Nothing. Exactly diddly-shit. Same exact stuff the used to have when they promoted themselves as "resort fee free!". All the hotels are doing it because once one does and gets away with it, why not???

If I was in that situation where the fitness center was closed, I was paying the resort fee, and the place they sent me to wanted to charge me extra on top of that to use their facility, I would certainly go to a front desk manager and complain about having to pay it. I know it's typically difficult/impossible to get resort fees waived for no real reason, but when amenities listed in justification of the resort fee aren't actually being offered or are out of service for your stay, that sounds like grounds for removal of the fees to me. I have to imagine any decent manager/host-type employee would be reasonable about it. Maybe I'm wrong.

And from what I saw when making my Total Rewards reservations over the past couple days, only wired internet was listed, not wireless. That's pretty freakin ridiculous. You're going to charge someone a fee for internet at a hotel and not even make it wireless? I'm sorry, I thought this was 2013...phones, tablets, and the majority of internet-ready mobile devices these days don't even have wired Ethernet ports.

Just thought I'd mention that the Caesars offer email I just received this morning says in the footnote that access to the fitness center at The Quad is not included in the resort fees.
