We all have those places on the Strip/Downtown where we have been once or twice and decided we would rather just avoid the place from now on. What are your top 3 least favorite casino/hotels in Vegas and why?

3.) Excalibur- This is based on the casino. Dark and smoky with not type of vibe. Plus I didn't win when I went there. Why spend my money in that hell hole when I could just go right over to the MGM and It's the same property. Plus I hear the rooms are...not impressive :Þ

2.)Circus Circus- I like Slots o-Fun next door but hate circus circus. It was cool when I was under 21 but now I avoid that place at all cost. Too many kids running around the slots. Surprised the casino allows this. Plus the rids in the adventure dome are a joke.

1.)Monte Carlo- I HATE MONTE CARLO!!!:grrr: Worst Hotel/Casino on the strip. Pretty lame casino and pretty lame room. I think my standards were too high when I stayed at this place. Thought it was gonna be a vibrant place. Not at all. I avoid Monte Carlo at all cost. Maybe I'll give them a shot in 19 days but I doubt it...

    WOW...three least fav.

I don't like Luxor. Don't like anything about it. But we are going to see Carrot Top in a few days there, so maybe that will change.

I don't like TIs casino, it's dark and depressing to me.

I find Harrah's casino depressing as well. A lot of old people, just don't like the vibe. But I love carnival court.

    3. Monte Carlo. I also didn't like the vibe. I didn't like the cocktail service. I didn't help that I had a $100 bill stuck in a machine and it took forever for an attendant, on a Monday afternoon, to come over to fix the machine so I could play.

    2. Ballys. Does this casino have cocktail waitresses? I had to play crappy video poker at the bar just to get a drink. Another minus for the TR desk not opening until around 11 am or noon.

    1. El Cortez. I just don't like the crowd. I've tried it twice. Reminds me of Indian casinos in the remote areas of New Mexico.

#1 - Circus Circus - because the last thing I want to see in Vegas is kids & a bunch of clowns

#2 - Excalibur - because the second to last thing I want to see in Vegas is kids & a bunch of renaissance fair rejects.

#3[tie] - Bally's & LVH - because I get depressed when I think about how great these places used to be in their heydays vs. how badly they both suck now.

LOL I see that I am not the only one who doesn't buy the hype Monte Carlo gets. By far the most overrated casino on the strip.

    1. Circus Yurkis. Smells like soiled pampers and cigarette smoke. Makes me want to yurk.

    2. Caesars Palace. Smells like drunk Midwesterners after a day in the fields and rudeness. Makes me want to yurk.

    3. Vegas Club. Smells like yurk. Makes me want to yurk.

I've heard IP is terrible, and has a terrible trash smell on one side. I guess I got lucky on my one trip there, since there was no smell and the room was fine.

People hate Excalibur, and I can agree when kids are there. But if you go in an off time, it's actually pretty nice. Rooms are clean and bigger than I'd expect.

You are probably right about Excalibur having decent rooms. It's just that the casino gave me an awful first impression. One day maybe I will give it another shot. Nothing but kids and smoke in there when I was there last year

for all he "dislike" thrown at some places, there are plenty of folks that are happy with it.

    Interesting.

    1. IP. I have stayed there and I hope this renovation goes well, the locations perfect, but what a dump. Hopefully with the renovation it is a good place

    2. El Cortez. Loved the Cabana Suites. My favorite hotel I have stayed in so far in Vegas, but the casino sucked. It stinks in there, bad.

    3. Luxor. My brothers friends stayed there last year and we went to there room a couple times. Looks like a Super 8 with petroglyphs etched into a tv stand you buy at Wal Mart, and the TV in their room was like a 20" tube TV.

Basing my list on casino only. My favorite and least fav hotels do not necessarily match with the casinos. I think some of the ratings are also based on age. Monte Carlo is one of my favorites, but I am mid 50s and don't party.

    3 least fav casinos

    1. Luxor - no reason to go there with MB next door

    2. NY NY- dark and don't like the layout

    3. Excalibur- have just never liked it.

When visiting to the southend we will go to MB, Trop, MGM and Monte Carlo and skip the other 3. We will most likely never step foot in any of the 3 of them again.

I will only address strip casinos, as I don't like any of them downtown, lol.

Excalibur - for reasons stated, although their prime rib restaurant was awesome the several times we went there, years ago. It could be great. It's a good location, but it needs a major overhaul but mainly to get rid of the castle theme.

Circus Circus - I find it hard to believe it is even still around. I just can't imagine there are that many people that stay there that warrants it staying open.

Venetian - I know, I know. But I can't stand the smell, the pretentiousness, etc. I forget that it is even there, lol.

    3. Every HET property: for adopting identical egregious video poker pay tables, it shows exactly what they think of their customers;
    2. Luxor: I still cannot navigate a straight line through that casino;
    1. Monte Carlo: it reeks of smoke, has all the ambiance of a warehouse, and five years ago they were refusing to rate players who were not at a 25 dollar table.

It changes so much it's hard to say. They all have their purpose. I will not go to excalibur or circus circus because of how many children I hear are running around there.

I agree that the Monte Carlo is not the nicest and kind of smelly, but I have always left with a positive bank roll out of there. I'm sure that will change some day. They also have one of the few virtual blackjack games left on the strip. Until then I will make at least one visit each time I'm in town. Oh yea Starbucks in there food court.

    ^^^^^^^^^ what he said ^^^^^^^^^^^

    Also add:

Circus, TI, Excalibur - I dislike clowns, fake castles, and don't like seeing children in Vegas. All of these places had lines of children being dragged by their parents towards them in August -- no thanks!

Again, to each his own - which is what makes Vegas so great! :nworthy:

For me the Strip is like a football team at any level.

They all are on the field but some get the crowd going and others just get on and off the field without too much fanfare.

    Superstars are places like:

    Mandalay
    City center casinos
    Bellagio
    etc,
    the "Big hitters"

The others are just there for filler. They help make the city, make the team, but down ever score that winning touchdown.

My least three has nothing to do with rooms, service or the casino. It's simply where I feel I no longer fit because of my age. The are: Hard Rock, Hooters and the Palms.
