Same for us. We stayed there a number of times in the '90s & '00s.

Loved grabbing one of those good hotdogs & a beer for $1.25 off the cart back in the sportsbook.

Thanks, now I may not sleep tonight. :Þ

We have a bunch of Silver Strikes from when it was still Barbary Coast, celebrating the founders. Good times.

Now I doubt I'll ever set foot in the place.

    still the "barb" for me

This was one of the first places the wife and I gambled in 30 years ago. Stayed across the way in the Dunes (bellagio now) and the MGM was across the street (ballys)
The dealers helped us with the BJ and Craps rules. They could not have been any nicer to some gaming rookies. Our first real taste of vegas.

so, is this Cromwell they speak of going to cater to the "young crowd" (anyone under 35)?

I will miss the charm of Bill's for sure, but I'm trying to keep an open mind on the Cromwell. Do I think I'll stay there based on the descriptions I have seen? Probably not, but I am looking forward to taking a spin through it when I'm next in Vegas in July. I have surprised myself in the past with what I've liked when I didn't expect to.

I will miss Bill's or the Barbary Coast as it was when we first started going. We have attended many meets there from other sites as it was easy to find people you had never met before and the drinks were cheap.

Looks like you can make reservations at the Cromwell starting May 21st on the Total Rewards site. (if you want to pay that much. I'm showing $228-$378 and up per night).

    I so agree

Everyone that loved Bills must never have been there when it was Barbary Coast. Seems like when it changed to Bills it tightened up slots, raised the limits on the table games & screwed up the Victorias cafe.
I'm sure this Cromwell will be even worse. Unless you are a rich California 20-30 something looking to party on the weekend.
    OK rant off.

Big Elvis? The construction workers at Bill's/Cromwell used a forklift to dump him off over at Harrahs Piano bar.

The difference between Barbary Coast and Bill's is equivalent to the difference between Martini's and Nick's. The role of Mr. Porter is played by [STRIKE]Lionel Barrymore[/STRIKE] Gary Loveman.

The Barbary Coast....The first place my ex and I had comped drinks, EVER, in Vegas. CW brought the drink over, sat it down and my wife took a sip and made a very sour face. CW said " I know honey, the drinks are watered down". After she left my wife said "WOW!! I was just thinking this drink is about half vodka!!" Lightweights I guess.
