Anybody who has driven to Vegas from Southern California this summer should have seen the construction going on to the west of the 15 near the Ivanpah Solar Generating plant.

What the heck are they building? It is starting to look like a CHP sub-station or something, because they have been installing that Government Issue stone-brick exterior that seems so popular with bureaucrats. Anybody have a positive ID for the building?

i believe that is going to be the new California agriculture check station. The other one will be closed eventually.

Eventually, some time in the future when McCarran is out of capacity, that area has been identified for an international airport.

Thanks, guys. Especially you, Aaron5. That article you found was enlightening. So it looks like the ultimate plan is for a truck weigh station, agricultural inspection station and a CHP sub-station all in one. Eventually.

How would you like to commute from Barstow every day to work there? :D
