I have never heard of silver and gold cards until I started reading VMB. Can someone tell me how do you acquire one of these? Who hands them out?

Based on recent information I’ve gathered from the wise folks on this board, they are food comp cards given out at the Boyd downtown properties (Main Street Station, California, and Fremont) usually bundled with free room and freeplay offers. Apparently Silver gives you free food at most Boyd restaurants except the higher-end ones, and Gold covers them all. They will be given out at the discretion of the casino host based on how much dough you’ve recently spent and how much more they think you’ll drop if they keep you inside their walls. I’ve been told by VIP Services that a Gold card will be waiting for me on my next trip to MSS but have my doubts because of my low-roller status.

There may be other casinos who have their own silver/gold cards for other purposes, but I’m not aware of them.

Just to add on...the other Boyd properties Orleans, Gold Coast Suncoast & Sams do not have any type of cards. It seems to be strictly the downtown Boyd properties.
In a recent post Flusher said he was told Cal doesn't issue Silver cards, only MSS & Fremont.

Thanks everyone! I had no knowledge of these cards. Probably because of my low roller status and I have never talked to a host before. I think I am going to look into this next time I am in town.
