My wife and I will be staying at the Westgate at the end of February and were hoping to get some current info. I have read through the Westgate thread but it seems like nobody has had anything new to say about the place in the last couple of months.

We have been promised a newly renovated signature room on a higher floor with a strip view. Anyone have any reviews on these rooms?

Is it true that even with a comped room you can choose not to have house keeping and get $$$ for each day? If so, how much and does it count for each day of the stay?

Any advice on restaurants at the property? I doubt we will be eating on site but it's always good to know.

When checking in with a comped room do you go through the normal check in or is their an expedited process? We won't be checking in until 10-10:30 on a Thursday night so I'm not sure if it would be busy or not.

Is parking fairly close to the hotel check in? Also, is it a long walk from the check in to the hotel rooms?

Thanks in advance and if I think of any other questions I will add them the thread. Dan

Apparently nobody has stayed or eaten at the Westgate recently?

How was your stay at the Westgate? I have a two evening stay there before football season that a sponsor is paying for. I do not expect much since it is a standard room and Yelp has had a lot of negative reviews.

Stayed in a signature room for three nights during the college basketball conference tournaments. It's solid but nothing fancy. Bed was good, tv was new (though ESPN and other sports networks kept losing signal and app system for Netflix, etc. wasn't working), bathroom didn't look like it was upgraded but good water pressure from the shower, which is how I judge these things usually.

If you can get a cheaper rate than on the Strip, I'd say go for it. If not, pass.

Well Danny, I wish someone would have answered more of your questions. How was your stay in February? We received a comp offer for a one bedroom suite on
the concierge floor and wish someone here had a good description with pictures. Haven't stayed there in several name changes. Anyone stay there recently?

Please let us know. I heard that the place is high on selling time shares. Is that true?

The signature rooms are nice. Nothing exceptional, but nice. For skipping room cleaning there is a $10 food credit given to you. I haven't stayed there more than 2 days, but I believe you can get a credit for each day you skip room cleaning.

In my opinion, the restaurants are all decent, but are poor values, due to a heavy convention business they have there, with business people not really concerned with writing off the cost of meals on a business trip. The new Italian place was the most decent value. Food was fine. The sushi place inside Benihana's was also one of the few decent values there.

If your room offer comes with a comped 1 day concierge lounge pass, then you get a nice breakfast, and light meals and drinks in the evening. If not, don't pay for it, it is not worth $40/day or so that they charge per person.

Check in lines are hit and miss, depending if a convention is coming in or leaving that day, although at 10pm I doubt the lines will be an issue except maybe for Friday's.

Parking is a bit of a walk, and the garage can be near full when a large convention is there, or for a busy weekend. There are about five 15 minute check in parking spaces just past the porte cochere, but some people do abuse them for daily parking, and they are often filled.

We have a routine that we use for check in. Since we are usually in the North Tower, we drop off the bags at the end of that tower (which is closest to the parking garage), and one of us stays with the bags while the other parks the car and then checks in. There is a single glass walled elevator on the outside of the North tower that we then use to get the bags to the room.

We found the timeshare sales pitches quite annoying, as sometimes we were stopped 3 times on a single walk to the hotel elevators.

A plus is that I think their pool area is one of the few on/near the strip that you can sit out and not have four other people practically a foot from your chair.

..... just saw that this was an older thread that was revisted. So my answers are late but might be of interest to others.
