I am currently in the initial phase of planning a 2016 LV trip. One of the places I am really intrigued by is the Westage LV/LVH/Las Vegas Hilton/International :evillaugh

I have heard very good things about the value it presents for the rooms and access to the monorail, but I don't know much about:

    The Players Club and comps
The Casino rules for BJ/Craps etc.
    Pool
    Spa
    Food

So any personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance to all who post.

    :peace:

    Bump,

Sorry you're not getting any responses and I can't help you either. I haven't been in for about 10 years now. I do know that many locals love the sports book.

I hope some one that has stayed recently will jump in with info.

I was thinking about staying here when I go out in a couple weeks
Saw they had a $39 room special ...

That being said, 13 of the first 17 reviews I saw on Yelp were 1*s

    Very dirty rooms.

Bump... Bump ... Bump.... Surely someone can help out here

I used to go here quite a bit and loved it, especially the Sports Book and Bars.

Thank for the bumps. I think a lot of Yelp reviews are cries for attention. With 2000+ rooms I'm sure some people have bad experiences, but those people complain about a lot of dumb stuff.

Haven't been there in a while but last I heard they still had 3-2 blackjack.

The pool has always been average. Pretty good size but more or less just a standard pool.

I have been staying there the past 7 years since they imploded the Frontier. I always stay in the North Tower and I think the rooms are nice. They have made recent improvements to the casino, new carpet, marble, etc. that are really nice. I don't know anything about the blackjack because I play Video Poker. They have plenty of Video Poker that I like. The drink service is pretty good too. A little slow in the early morning but pretty regular up front after 10 AM. They are remodeling the Sportsbook right now which should be complete by the end of this month. I am going out Sept 21st and looking forward to seeing the changes. I have a problem with the food situation though. There is no place to get a reasonably priced breakfast unless they add something in the sportsbook. They have a restaurant in the casino called Sids but I'm not one to pay 15.00 for 3 eggs, bacon, toast, etc. Add the price of coffee and you might as well get the breakfast buffet. You can get a pastry at their coffee shop, Fortuna to go with coffee if you like something light. They used to have a sportsbook deli that opened around 11:00 in the morning that had a great menu for lunch and dinner if you like deli type food. I really liked the deli and hope the remodel has included something comparable. I have never experienced a dirty room and have stayed there many times. They have a going green program that gives you 10.00 food comp if you choose to not have maid service. Since it is just me, I don't need maid service and take the 10.00 a day. Don't really like anybody in my room anyway. Hope this has helped in your decision making.

I stopped by the casino a few weeks ago to see what changes they have made since the LVH days. I was going to update my old LVH slot card for a Westgate, but there didn't appear to be a slot club booth there. From what I could gather, you're supposed to use the cage for slot club business...or a kiosk. So I just skipped getting a card..

Haven't stayed there since the 80s...used to stay & play there a lot when it was the Las Vegas Hilton.
Wish I could help, but my info is - how shall I say it? "Dated".

Seems like forever from now, but the flights are booked, so it counts!

They moved the slot club booth to the casino cage. Prefer the old slot club booth but haven't experienced any problems with the new arrangement. I forgot to mention in my earlier post that the pool area has also been remodeled. The pool is average size but very nice. The lounge chairs are all new and they have put green grass/carpet in the lounging areas that is pretty nice but I'm not sure if that's an improvement or not. It doesn't make it any cooler to have that over concrete. Their hot tub is very nice. Would love to hear about the sportsbook improvements if anybody has any updates.

My first stay there will be this upcoming week. I have 5 nights booked so I should have plenty of time to explore the property and report.

Not to hijack the thread, but do any Vegas locals reading the thread have pictures of the new Westgate Superbook sportsbook renovations...found very few online and most are either just CAD program designs of what they want it to look like...or pictures a month old or so just showing the temporary setup.

Gonna be down there for the first weekend of football season and curious to see what it's looking like.

Fwiw, they have the most liberal free drinks while betting on sports. A $10 bet ticket will get you free drinks for as long as the game is going, just make sure to tip a couple bucks each/every other drink.

I stayed there about 3 years ago and the rooms were better than I was expecting. Didn't gamble there so can't help you with that.

Many of the rooms were recently remodeled and look quite nice. There are putting money into the place, and it shows. The pool area was refreshed (not enough to say remodeled, although they would probably call it that). The pool area is roomy, unlike many places where there are people are cramped together, sitting chair against chair all around the pool. The pool is nice sized, and doesn't have the shadows of towers on the pool early and late in the day like so many in LV. It is one of my favorite pools in LV. Here you can relax and have some privacy. The biggest recent change on your list is the spa. They just built a new spa/gym area, replacing the well worn 80's gym/spa. It wasn't open yet in the spring, but for sure is now, and it looked very nice. However, the resort fee (not charged for comped rooms) doesn't get you access to the new spa/gym. Like a few of the middle market places, they created a crappy separate gym area, with mostly treadmills, for the resort fee people. To use the new spa/gym near the pool, you have to pay for access or pay for a treatment there.

It was, and will probably still be, a hotel that is heavy on convention business, so there are a lot more conventioneers in suits and dresses, rather than gamblers at the hotel/casino.

For food, as others said, there are not many bargains. That is partly due to the heavy convention business, which expenses their meals, and don't really care about the meal pricing on a business trip. So, no need for value restaurants there. A couple of the restaurants have closed and reopened "new", with new names and menus.

Players club benefits like cash back and comps are disappointing compared to other places.

I posted a couple of pictures of the room and the pool area in the early part of one of my trip reports here

    http://deamonlv.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

The new gym/spa area is in that glassed in area behind the yellow construction fencing, in the middle pool picture.

I've stayed there off and on for years and appreciate the room quality for the price. Westgate would be my Vegas go-to hotel.

Would you take a few pics of the sports book and post?
