With all this negativity and closings looming over downtown, how sweet would it be to learn the Western is being reopened?

Losing the Western seemed to send DT into a tailspin that its yet to recover from.

Tailspin? Have I teleported into some Bizarro World?

Downtown has never been better, there's not many places that have closed other than to be replaced by something better.

Even DTG is just experiencing the same teething issues as places like Cosmopolitan and SLS over on The Strip.

I suspect the Western was closed by the Downtown Project deliberately to clear the area of its regular patrons in the name of Gentrification (for good or ill).

It seems like Downtown Vegas actually has less business failures than a more normal city centre area where fashionable bars and restaurants come and go all the time.

I would honestly prefer to see the Western opened and zappos closed but thats just me.

I liked the western and it special "ambiance".

    same with the old atomic.

i heard they reopened that but of course its only for yupies and hipsters now so I wont be going there anytime soon. at least thats the impression i get from some posts here.

What they did to Atomic Liquors is criminal. I used to stop there every trip, now I wouldn't step foot in the place.

LMAO It sounds like something the Wayans brothers would do as a skit! Maybe they can re-create it using the the Las Vegas Club. Wouldn't need to do or clean anything.

I was in Vegas last week. When walking to the El Co, I noticed that the Western sign (although broken) was lit up. They were touting BINGO. Maybe after selling Las Vegas Club, Tamares had second thoughts and re-opened the Western to appeal to the downtrodden.
