    My Trip Report

:wave:My husband, Dave, and I left Albany,NY yesterday at 1:55pm on Southwest and arrive in Las Vegas at 3:55 a full 35 minutes early. We had to stop and get a Dine 4less card that I got for free so by the time we got to the luggage carousal our bags were there. Decided to try checking in to the MGM right at the airport there was a short line but it moved quickly. Was too chicken to try the $20 trick because there were 4 clerks working, so I just asked how much it would be for a upgrade. Since we booked our room online at $55/night rate my hubby said to go for the suite.
So after a short taxi ride we were walking into MGM. The line at the hotel check-in wasn't too long but I'm glad that we did it at the airport before I knew it we were walking into a beautiful Celebrity Spa suite. The room is very large with a sitting area that is seperate from the sleeping area, which is nice since I'm up very early. We don't have much of a view but I did get to see the sun rise and it was beautiful. The bathroom is big too with marble and a big jacuzzi tub. Atfer unpacking we decided to wander around MGM. It is huge, we walked around the pool area and some of them were already closing. They all close by 8:00pm. I think that's kinda early. We saw the restaurants, shops and decided to have a bite to eat the Rainforest cafe. It seemed to be the only place with people in it. It was OK, we just needed some food since it was 10:00 NY time.
Then we gambled some I lost and Dave won. Headed up to the room @ 11:00, 2:00 NY time. The bedding is extremely comfortable but I agree with most, they need to upgrade their TV's. More to follow.

    Monday - 8/30

:wave:Woke up very early and got to see the sun rise out our window. We were out walking the strip by 6:30. Wandered down to Paris and had coffee and pastries. Yummy!!! We decided to walk up the other side of the strip and due to construction we got lost around the Aria. That whole Convention center/resort is huge. Got back to MGM and went down to the pool. We rented tube and floated around the lazy river. Really isn't worth the $16 but we're on vacation. Ended up giving it to another couple when we left so made it worthwhile.
We had dinner reservation at Mon Ami Gami at Paris at 8:30 so we headed down there early to try to get an outside table seating. The hostess said it would be an hour and a half wait and then another hostess said they could seat us immediately. The food and view of the Bellagio fountain was excellent. We saw the fountain go off 3 times.
Went over to the Palms to try their VP and hubby hit 4 aces ($200)...He also hit the same thing the night before at MGM. So far he's been pretty lucky.
    Be back tomorow.

My husband has said that he would like to try Mon Ami Gabi for dinner this trip. He also wants to sit outside. We will be going in 2 1/2 weeks. Was it a comfortable temp outside at that time? We would also be dining around the same time you were there. Thanks!

We went for another walk this morning, a little later though. Headed back down the strip and stopped at Mon Ami Gabi for breakfast. This has become our favorite spot on the strip. We just love to sit and people watch. We got seated right away and had a table outside on the rail. Dave and I both had blueberry franch toast. It was to die for. Two huge pieces of thick bread with blueberries and blueberry syrup and whipped cream.....I really need to walk now. We walked down to Harrahs and the back. By time we got to the pool it was around 11. Still plenty of chaises but most were in the sun and it was hot, had to keep going in the water to cool off.
Tonight was Jersey Boys at the Palazzo. We headed down to the Venetian early because we had to pick up our tickets and wanted to get dinner. The show was at 9:30. Took the monorail it was quick and easy just lots of walking to and from the various stations and the strip. We decided to have dinner at the Grand Lux Cafe. Lots of choice and and reasonably priced. We then realized that we should have brought a sweater or jacket because it was very cool in the Venetian. There was no way we were going to buy something there so we cabbed it back to the MGM picked up jackets and cabbed back to the Palazzo. Probably cost us $26 including tip but was definitely cheaper than buying something at the Canal Shoppes.
The show is pricey but worth every penny. The music and singing was fabulous. We saved a little $$$ by getting our tickets online. The show got out at 11:30 and we walked up to Harrahs took the monorail back to MGM, gambled a little on the way back and for a while at MGM, won nothing and headed to bed at 2:00. Great day!!!

:wave:Got up early again and decided to walked down to Mandalay Bay, this section of the strip seemed deserted. Stopped and had coffee and a muffin in one of there cafes and decided to try our luck in their casino. We tried an Amazing Race game and had a ball. All 4 machines are tied together and when one person goes to the bonus everyone goes. We played for quite awhile, didn't win but had lots of fun. Headed back to the pool for a few hours. That evening we took the momorail down to the Las Vegas Hilton. We heard that it was one of the best for video poker. We played awhile and then got a phone call from home with very bad news. We had dinner in their Paradise Cafe, it was OK, neither one of us had much of an appetite. Gambled a little then headed back to MGM and to bed.

:wave:Took our walk back to Paris and enjoyed breakfast again in Mom Ami Gabi. Got seated right away outside and the food and service was wonderful. Went back and headed to the pool for a few hours. Tonight we were going to see KA at the MGM at 9:30. We ate at Wolfgang Puck's and it was great.
then we went to the show I really like it but Dave didn't. I think it was because we were seated too close to the stage. We were in the 4th row. If anyone is thinking of seeing KA I would suggest the farther back the better. After the show we gambled for awhile then turned in.

sounds like a well balanced trip - it's interesting to me that you're spending so much time outside. it's hot and there's a weather advisory out!

We leave today:cry: Got up and finished packing. We decided to use the MGM's bags to go. We took our luggage to the southwest counter in the main lobby and checked our bags right in to the airport. They also printed out boarding passes for us. The charge is $10 per bag but definitely worth it not to have to carry the bags around until 1:00. We then stopped at the Player's Card counter and they comped us 1 night free and removed about $50 worth of charges from our bill. We felt like winners. Decided to head over to NY NY for breakfast and had coffee and a bagel. We played in the casino and did pretty good. Winners again. Headed back to MGM and checked out at 11:00. Since our flight wasn't until 3:10 we went back to NY NY and continued to win a little. Took a cab from there to the airport. Since our bags were already checked and so were we, we headed right through security and to the gate. Quick and easy. Threw a $20 in one for the penny machines and hit for $100 and then Dave hit the same machine for $50. Figures the gambling improved as we're leaving. Flight back to Albany was 4 hrs. 11 mins., 30 min drive and were back home. We had a great vacation and hope it's not another 10 yrs. before we go back. Be glad to answer any questions.

I have heard slots looser at airport

this is to encourage people on their way in and on their way out. I do not know this for fact.

I was tempted to play the Wheel of Fortune Slots and go for the free spin on the 1,200,000 jackpot, but I figured if I did not get a free spin I would be in a bummer mood on the way home.

Congrats on BOTH of you hitting at the airport.

    Heat

All of our walks were early in the am and when we were at the pool if we got hot we went in the water or moved into the shade. We were a little worried but everything was great. I was surprised that eating outside in the evening was so comfortable.

Nice report and thanks for sharing. Used to stay at the MGM all the time when I first starting going to LV, they had the best rates by far. Even thought it has been quite some time the spa there used to be great.
