I guess I'd better start earlier.

Conservatively, it's an 8 hour drive. I was going to start at 4:30AM, but that will put me in at the heat of the day.

I just hope the rental car has good A/C!!!!

I also hope I can check in early at the Downtown Grand, I'll need a nap when I arrive. . . .

I drove my bike into Las Vegas this morning - getting in around 2 am. It was a pleasant 90 degrees F at the time. I do the 6-hour drive two times a month and stick to night drives this time of year. Not only do I stay much cooler doing this, but the traffic is very light as well.

90 degrees F at 2am in Las Vegas. Wow!! I remember back in '08 when I looked up at the temperature display by the tram that takes you to Luxor. It was 104 degrees and it was 7pm in the evening. :faint:

My dashboard said it was 95 degrees at midnight in the Rio parking garage last summer. It was probably in the neighborhood of the correct temp.

It was 95 degrees a couple weeks ago, no biggie.

As for checking into the Grand early, I was able to on a Sunday morning. They may or may not have your room type available but they seem to try to get you in if you request it.

    Tentative Arrival
