I was thinking about this today --
    since he was 93 -
who would be older + still alive ?
    Nobody ?...right ?
    *
    And Shirley Temple passed recently.
    *
    Who is left ?
Who made films at the big studios.....and "on contract" ?
from those long ago days ?
    *
Can anybody come up with some names ?
    Let's discuss.

    Thanks....nice list !
    However.......
I gotta disagree with about 90 percent
    of that list.

I was just wondering if Doris Day was still alive ?
    Now I know.
But I disagree that she's on that list......the time frame
is MUCH later than Mickey Rooney's Hollywood days.

I think Kirk Douglas and Olivia DeHaviland are the last of the old Hollywood left.

    Clint Eastwood!!

Just saw Bob Newhart on a Big Bang Theory re-run. He was a Mr. Wizard type tv scientist. He was Sheldon's hero growing up.

Do I have to explain Mr. Wizard to the young-uns?

Of the AFI top 25 male and female "legends" only two are left that would qualify as Old Hollywood, Kirk Douglas and Lauren Bacall. And Kirk Douglas didn't really get big until the 50's.

Sidney Poitier and Sophia Loren are the only other two on that list alive, but they don't go back quite far enough to be Old Hollywood.

Olivia de Havilland is still alive at 97 and counting and she is a true "Old Hollywood Legend". She was in a lot of great pictures, "Gone With the Wind" 1939, "The Adventures of Robin Hood" with Erol Flynn in 1938 and again with Erol Flynn in "Captain Blood" in 1935. She was in many, many more movies.

I forgot, she was in "A Midsummer's Night's Dream" with Mickey Rooney who played Puck in 1935. Here is the complete cast Ian Hunter, James Cagney, Mickey Rooney, Olivia de Havilland, Joe E. Brown, Dick Powell, and Victor Jory.

Great list. It may need a little updating, but with this list it may need updating every couple of days.

On our last trip to the Spice Market Buffet they have a movie poster on the wall by the bathrooms and it was for a movie with Doris Day that I think was filmed in the late 40's early 50's. I thought when I saw it that the date was a typo because I didn't think she was that old. Good genes I guess.
