This is the best reason to go to Vegas solo. You don't have to share with friends.

I love going solo as my husband and I rarely want to do the same things in Vegas.

Only once or twice have I ever felt uncomfortable about being there alone. Once was a trip where someone "suggested" they might show up and that was creepy. But only once did someone get too friendly with me. I just waved at a random stranger, said "There's my husband, have a good night." and walked away. :)

I have made lots of solo trips to Vegas and enjoyed them for the same reasons that have already been stated here. But I have found that if you do want some company during the trip, you can easily meet up, say for an afternoon, with people with whom you have made an online connection such as on this board. I have also made spontaneous acquaintances with people at bars and a few other places and we ended up hanging out for a while. The bar at Ellis Island and at the Fremont downtown seem to be particularly friendly places.

Ah yes, this is the plight of those of us prone to introversion. I'm a perfectly friendly person, but there are times when I just want/need to spend time alone. Those who are more extroverted find this baffling or anti-social, but being around people for too long is exhausting to me and I need to go be alone to re-charge.

That being said, I've not been to Vegas alone, because my husband and I love going together, but if the situation came up I would not hesitate to do so. If people think it's weird, well it's not their money you are spending, is it?

I really need/want to do a solo trip. I've had 2 booked so far but someone has always ended up coming with me. I think I'll just book a trip and not tell anyone until the day I go.

One of my trips was solo to Vegas and I really enjoyed myself. Do what you want when you want to. If I just want a donut and a couple screwdrivers for breakfast, I can have that. I prefer a buffet at 2:45 in the afternoon for early dinner, paying lunch price. You can do that without others caring. As previously mentioned though, do not drink too much when solo and only carry the one day bankroll (I made the mistake of drinking too much and going thru 3 of my 4 days bankroll in one night!)

Just so you know, two of my friends went a few months ago (both female) and had a great trip, free booze, free cab rides, etc...their only incident was getting OFF the elevator going to their room for the night and 2 guys were in the hallway and forced their way into the room with them. Nothing happened, they got them out and called security but the guys were gone by then.

    Its fine.

And people won't get it. I've gotten all sorts of weird looks when planning solo trips but I also have had a great time, so to heck with them.

WHAT?? Men forced themselves into the room with them???? OMG...nothing happened?? BUT thinking of what COULD have happened is frightening!!

The women were traveling together & not one just being solo??

Can I ask what hotel they were staying at?

That is pretty much my worst nightmare as a woman traveling alone.

Yes they were travelling together, staying in the same room, at Treasure Island. The manager at TI offered to move them to another room, told them if they wanted security to escort them to their room the rest of their trip just to let them know and it would be done, don't really remember too much more as to what they offered other than my friend saying the apologies seemed to be very sincere. I always thought the Venetian was really good at least trying to avoid this by having security at the elevators and you having to show your room key EVERY time you were going to the elevators to go to your room.

I stayed at the Palazzo last year, and the security there was very good. They checked every time even in the afternoon.

I'm wondering now how MGM is going to be.
