Hi everyone, I'm new to the message boards.
I was wondering if there was a way to walk to The Strip from the airport, as well as from the Strip to the airport. Also if there is, it safe to walk at night alone. I don't mind paying for the shuttle busses, but they take so long. And the taxis always try to rip you off. I think it would be a neat sightseeing experience.
If there is a way what is the fastest or easiest way to do it?
    Thanks everyone for you're help/advice.

Anything is possible. Don't do it. Pay the 6 bucks for the shuttle. Way quicker.

Veeeeery long walk, and if you have any kind of luggage it would be most difficult. Tropicana, southernmost hotel is 5 miles +/-. I imagine that it would not be advisable to walk it at night, either! Just take the shuttle!

    Will give them a try!

I certainly wouldn't walk it, way to far and would probably take longer than the shuttle. If you are worried about cost take the shuttle or the WAX as mentioned above.

Ok, thanks for the advice. I didn't realize it was such a long walk. I wasn't worried about the price of the shuttle bus, it just takes so long to get to the Riv. (Where I'm staying) with the bus.

I'm sure people have lost all their money and had to walk to the airport to catch their flight home. It's a lot farther than it looks.

This is a poor idea that you will 100% regret.

Please try it though and report back here so we can once and for all end this question from coming up again.

I don't get it. You said the cost of the shuttle doesn't matter, it was the time it takes. And then you want to walk from the airport to the Riv.

Taxi is under $20. Even if they tunnel you (your fault), it is barely above that.

It's Vegas. Get to your hotel. Dump the bags. Go spend money.

I was going to walk to the Strip & then take the monorail to the area of the Riv., But won't attempt it per the responses of this thread.

Take the 108 city bus from the airport. It will cost $2 and get you right to the Riviera, on the back side. It is built for luggage and will be a comfortable journey. Just ask the driver for the stop when you get on as the closest stop is not on the map or schedule and he will pass it if it is not signaled. I think the stop is on announced on the bus, but keep a lookout for the Riviera. It will be visible, but it will seem odd to stop at the end of a long parking lot. But even were you to miss the closest, there is the Sahara monorail stop beyond Riviera that is not much of a walk back.

It should take about 33 minutes.

Here is how to find the bus at the airport

Other buses come to this stop, so be certain to catch the 108

Don't forget to tell us how it all went for you when you get back.

The only time I would consider doing this would be lunchtime on a December day. I have never seen anyone doing it though.

what difference is it if you walk a few miles to your hotel or if you use the gym at your hotel to run/walk a few miles!? I get the waste of time argument, since your probably not going to be in town forever, why waste it walking.. but not the toooo looonnng of a walk, to each their own I suppose! The only reason i wouldnt walk that is because im pressed for time on a vacation and would rather save my walking for the strip!
