After tax issues were raised in Joe's "Another Royal-less trip report" last week ago, I snuck in my own tax-related question. But having receiving no comments, thought I'd turn it into a separate thread. Namely, while recently looking up BJ side bets on wizardofodds.com, I came across, "a W2G tax form is generated on any table game win that exceeds $600 and pays 300 to 1 or more."

The reason I'm bringing this up is because last year I won $1000 on my $1 Lucky Ladies side bet. I thought only machine wins above $1200 were reported and I hadn't yet heard of the above-mentioned W2G requirement on table games. The only question the pit bossed asked me was, "Why didn't you bet $5 or $10?" I replied that had I been placing that much on the side bet, I would have been wiped out long before the jackpot ever showed up. So, I'm left wondering if they simply goofed in not generating a W2G or if table wins, regardless of type, are exempt or simply ignored.

I'll undoubtedly be placing that "sucker" side bet next week and am curious is anyone has ever received a W2G on table games.

On my last trip, on 10-2-13, I was at the Gold Coast when a girl hit the lucky ladies, with $10 bet, and the dealer got a blackjack.
She got w2g'd... (and she didn't care!)

Seems like forever from now, but the flights are booked, so it counts!

Yes...I have gotten a w2g on Ultimate Texas Holdem, for a Royal Flush. Not really a side bet, but it paid 500 to 1, and I was betting green chips.

He did goof by not writing up a W2G. The $600 and 300 to 1 thing is correct. But for most table games, there are few if any bets that pay off at more than 300 to 1, mostly just the highest payout for Royal Flushes, etc. But you have to exceed both criteria (win $400 on a $1 bet with 5 Aces at PaiGow, no W2G).

A newer "carny game" that has this issue is "High Card Flush", they made getting a 7 card flush exactly 300 to 1...lol It's only about 19,490 to 1 to hit, but this payout was totally unnecessary and wastes time when it does get it.
