After tax issues were raised in Joe's "Another Royal-less trip report" last week ago, I snuck in my own tax-related question. But having receiving no comments, thought I'd turn it into a separate thread. Namely, while recently looking up BJ side bets on wizardofodds.com, I came across, "a W2G tax form is generated on any table game win that exceeds $600 and pays 300 to 1 or more." The reason I'm bringing this up is because last year I won $1000 on my $1 Lucky Ladies side bet. I thought only machine wins above $1200 were reported and I hadn't yet heard of the above-mentioned W2G requirement on table games. The only question the pit bossed asked me was, "Why didn't you bet $5 or $10?" I replied that had I been placing that much on the side bet, I would have been wiped out long before the jackpot ever showed up. So, I'm left wondering if they simply goofed in not generating a W2G or if table wins, regardless of type, are exempt or simply ignored. I'll undoubtedly be placing that "sucker" side bet next week and am curious is anyone has ever received a W2G on table games.
