I'll be attending the GGWU this coming weekend and I'm asking for some suggestions on what versions of VP you would suggest to maintain some longevity. In other words, I'm here for the goodies, not so much the gambling. My trip is comped so I have to put some time in with the machines. Some background:

My focus is the GGWU. This is my 4th trip to Vegas this year and I'm not into hitting up various casinos to search out the evasive, rare 9/6 DDB
I'm staying at the Flamingo and will do most of my playing there because my host has comped the room and I need to show some play. Not the best pay tables but good selection of games.
I love Ultimate X but will stay away from those crack machines as they can be expensive( I'm a .25 player this trip) I'm also drawn to STP but that has some wild swings as well but won't count it out.
I usually play triple play DDB and am curious as to what others think about other versions such as TDB or super DDB?(Not even sure it's at the Flamingo)
I know it sounds weird but I'm not gunning for handpays. I'm still ticked that the IRS hasn't sent me my refund for 2014. I want longevity to put my time in and collect some goodies from the GGWU. If I can get out of Vegas relatively unscathed or up a few bucks and have grabbed some goodies from the GGWU, I'd be a happy camper.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

I think I would just pick out these VP machines you like to play. They have a fair selection - or did on my last visit. Mostly older machines over at the far end of the casino - closer to checkin area.

i get the handpays....but not the reason.

Maybe you are from Canada? If so, I get that even more. There are lots of options that do not hit the hand pay.

Flamingo should have Super DDB for single line in some places. I'm pretty sure I saw it in margaritaville for quarters this year which I would find beneficial since I really like their frozen margaritas. For triple play, I'm less sure if they'll have it available, but I've seen it on triple play elsewhere.

I'm not a fan a TDB personally because the variance is too high for me. The 10 credit payout on trips really hurts when you're trying for the big score. Super DDB is a bit of a variance bump from DDB, but not nearly as much as TDB. I'm a decent fan of it mainly for payback (minimum offered is 6/5 which is 97.69%).

Now if they had Super DDB with Super Triple Play (videopoker.com says they have Super Triple Play), that would be a good game at 98.34% max, but it's 18 credits a pop, and really swingy because the increased quad payouts from the extra coin.

Strategies and general discussion of Super DDB and Super Triple Play with Super DDB are here:

If you are looking to keep your swings down, there is always the 100 play penny machines w/STP. You don't have to play all the lines to bet 6 per line. But the drawback is that DDB is 7/5 (95.98% w/STP). But if you wanted to experiment with deuces wild, that is 97.00% after STP strategy here. Worked okay for me last trip...:wink2:

I play almost exclusively at quarter bar tops and my experience is that once you've seen one machine's pay table you've seen them all. From Paris to Harrahs all of the Total Rewards properties seemed to be the same. There will be some differences on floor machines.

For the most part. TAG Lounge at Linq is a BIG exception for that at the moment. They still have the paytables that were available pre-Spring 2015 (7/5 Triple Bonus Plus, "Traditional" 6/5 Bonus, 8/5 DDB).

    Terrible start to the trip.

Play what you want or don't play if you don't want.

    Never play for comps.

You're right nostresshere, It's because I'm Canadian. It's absolute bullshit to have to wait over a year to get a tax refund back. Thanks for your response.

Thanks for the great advice Tring. I'll have a look around Margaritaville for the super DDB. I'll try that and perhaps stick with triple play DDB. Also thanks for the link. I'll check it out.

Shifter, While I agree that one shouldn't play just for comps, I do need something to do while I'm down there. I'm burning up my 750.00 flight credit, the room is free and so will whatever bonus offer for free play is available that will be booked for me so, if I'm going to play... because I'm not going to spend all my time at the GGWU, I want my host to get the action. It's a 2 way street. All I was asking is what games have the lowest variance.
    Thanks

Without the comps I would just drive to my local boat and hand my theoretical loss to the cage. They won't buy me a drink, their food is bad and I don't need their room. Without comps I sure as hell wouldn't spend four hours in the aluminum tube. Comps are part of the math, and loyalty breeds loyalty. Comps shouldn't influence your gambling decisions, but they should certainly affect your stay and play.

Well if you are looking for low variance then play jacks or better or bonus poker. I thought flamingo had 7/5 bonus when I was there in Jan, but maybe not. If you want more action triple play jacks or bonus. Playing DDB is a high variance game compared to jacks or bonus. So IF you want the lowest variance possible stick with those games.

No problem, I usually stick with Jack or Bonus because I cannot stand swings of DDB!

Be warned tough I have lost $100 in less than an hour on .25 9/6 jacks or better. :vomit:

In jan. Flamingo had 7/5 bp (98.01%) for quarters. But unless they missed a unit, those were all downgraded to 6/5 (96.87%) this spring. 6/5 SDDB (97.69%) was the best I saw. 6/5 Bonus w/STP (97.14%) is a fun compromise of variance and return. Those should still be able as cheap as nickels.

    Fuckers!
I did not play vp this summer there
If play at a Cet casino matters to you go to Cromwell they have full pay jacks and bonus. Tc earn is 50 pts per 1 so if you are playing for reward credits no... but just play yup.
