Saw this post from the El Cortez on Facebook today. Obviously bragging about the eighteen hundred dollar Royal, but what's wrong with this picture? 6/5 Double Double? Never saw a pay table that bad at the place, even the bar tops. Has something gone horribly wrong there recently?

It's not straight 6/5. The progressives on 4oaks make up a portion of the reduced paytables.

I've played there many times over the years. It's the Lobby Bar and only about half of the machines have the progressive, and it's only on the DDB. I would occasionally step down from the 9/7 DB to play the 8/5 DDB when the progressive was high. I have never seen 6/5 on any quarter pay table at El Cortez. I am fearing a shift in management attitude, they've had quit a few of those over since Jackie left.

Yeah, this isn't necessarily terrible, but the meters have to be terribly high to make up 6/5 DDB (94.66% base pay). But here they were, this was a 99.47% machine with optimal play (including strategy changes holding the kicker with 2-4s because the meter is huge or any 3 to a royal beating KK-JJ.) But if this multi-level progressive used to be 8/5 as FullPay is saying and the progressive meters haven't been adjusted at all, then that's not good.

I think this is terrible, first of all, its the El Cortez, and second, Four Queens has this same game on much better bars with 9/6.

I was just there. Still saw plenty of 8/5 bonus at the bars. I think there have definitely been changes in management attitude, perhaps aimed at a younger clientele, but let's be honest. I'm 56 and I'm definitely on the significantly younger side of their client base. If they want to be in business 10 years from now, they need a younger client base.

I'm in the same boat age wise and the changes are not for me. I really can't believe that a velvet rope nightclub is going to work in that property, but they don't ask me. I also didn't think go-go dancers and 6/5 blackjack would work downtown but apparently I was wrong on that one.

I was disappointed when they dropped their 9/6 .25 JOB single line.
