Question regarding those VP bars that are going the way of drink tickets: does the first drink ticket print automatically with $20 inserted into the machine or is coin-in required first?

Which VP bars are those? I'd like to know which ones to avoid on my NYE trip.

I believe the first drink is given by the bartender once you play a little, then the rest require a voucher that is printed after $X have been run through the machine.

Currently, I believe the only 2 that do this are the Lobby Bar at Mirage and Bond Bar at Cosmo. Then, of course, there are some/all? bars at the Wynn that don't comp drinks at all.

That's quite a leap from 2 bars nears trendy nightspots introducing a drink ticketing system for VP play. Don't hurt yourself there.

That will be the day I stop vacationing in Vegas. I can't imagine all casino properties would be that stupid. There are plenty of off strip and downtown properties willing to siphon off strip tourists with free booze still should
the LV strip properties get that stupid.

I agree. Local casinos are fairly tight on drink comps usually and that is what makes Vegas stand apart (well one thing anyway).

At Golden Nugget Lake Charles I can't even get Maker's Mark. Never had a problem with MAker's or even Bulleit over at L'auberge just next door. I understand if I was asking for Pappy Van Winkle, haha but Maker's isn't ultra premium. It's marginally more expensive than JD.

I'm used to no drink comps because it's illegal to give alcohol away free here. Going to Tunica next week, partly for the free drinks.

Since the local gaming odds are still better than Vegas, I would see no free booze as zero sum game effect. I could stay home have better gaming odds and still have to pay for drinks in OH and IN casinos.
There is just less choice in gaming properties available. I don't know what these guys would be smoking to think that Vegas would still have appeal to the gamblers / tourists if they invoke a no booze comp rule.

I get the idea of slowing the bleed from the low spend player gaming the system, but don't shit on the established customers.
