I couldn't get any comps since I have never even stepped foot in the casino but I'm hoping the 20 trick will work. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get some upgrades? The rooms look great and there are plenty of good reviews but it seems like a lot of peeps go off site to gamble (from what I've read).

I've stayed and Mandalay Bay, Monte Carlo, mgm...Just wanted to stay somewhere different. Going for a late 5 yr anniversary trip and my birthday.

    Any help would be appreciated!

I'm staying at the Venetian next year so I've been doing some research and the $20 trick does seem to work at least sometimes and the upgrade that comes up most often is a strip view room in the pallazo

I would not expect much more than a "view" upgrade.

We stay at V/P often in comped room. I agree with nostresshere that you will possibly get a view upgrade which is worth very little, or they may offer you an upgrade to the Venezia Tower. We consider that a downgrade and decline each time.

If you want anything more than a view, save the $20 and just simply ask. They may just give it to you.

However, if a nice view is something you find to be worth $20 down, then go right ahead!

This is the Venetian/Palazzo we are talking about, so no need to request an upgrade unless you want to pay for an actual size upgrade. When presenting the $20 sandwich simply ask if there are any rooms available with a nice (or say Strip) view and preferably high up. Also ask if you can try the Palazzo as well. The $20 trick can easily get you these things unless it is busy. But just remember to play nice and happy.

I prefer the Palazzo over Venetian simply because the Palazzo rooms are a smidge larger (hardly noticeable to most) and for the lighter styling throughout. Also it is a breeze to get to your car if you park in the garage next to the room elevators (if you have a car). But the Venetian is amazing as well with the largest standard rooms on the Strip.

On my last trip back in May I was able to get a room on the 43rd floor of the Palazzo looking south down the Strip. My room was higher than the Venetian itself with the entire view of just about every Strip hotel in one shot. The view would have been better with a finished observation wheel at Linq, but that is nitpicking since I booked a ROH (run of the house) standard room (they call them suites but are more like very large and nice rooms), the lowest possible booking at Venetian/Palazzo.

    Good luck and have fun!
