    Hello,

I am new to the board and have been to Vegas 4 times. I love the board and thank everyone for their advise. I am in my mid twenties and bringing a buddy of mine who has never been(other than when he was a kid) for a semi bachelor party and looking at things to show him. We will be going the weekend of the Super Bowl and attending a party for that. I am a gambler and I am not sure how much he will gamble. Probably depends on how much he brings for a bankroll. We are staying off strip a couple nights and a few on strip. I know this has been asked on here a millions time but I am at a blank for unique things to do. I am the one who is getting married. I like to play table games, mostly black jack and craps. I also play a little VP usually at the bar. My bankroll will be anywhere in the $300-500 per day range. Any unique gambling spots/activities that anyone has in mind that would make this a memorable weekend? We will not have a vehicle and am using some of my myVegas points for a free night on the strip. I have a decent amount left over, what is everyone's favorite reward? Btw we are both pretty good at drinking beer;)

Southpoint and NYNY is where we are staying. South point for the Super Bowl and the days after on the strip. Thank you for the welcome to the board.

Good Choices! I'm only moderately familiar with those hotels, having been in South Point just a few times and stayed at NYNY 4-5 times, but probably 10 years ago. I have a friend who lives south of the Strip (close to SP) and has a lot of fun there. NYNY, of course, has a fantastic location to see and do so much on the Strip. I'm sure plenty of other will have lots of suggestions for you.

My only directive is for you fellas to have a BLAST!!!!!!! After watching today's games, I'm reminded Super Bowl is only 3 weeks away!!! Whooo!!! Hoooo!!!!

    Welcome to the board Jost.

I stayed at the South Point over a year ago, and was pleasantly surprised and very pleased with the room which was large, bright/clean, had a nice bathroom and very comfortable bed. The casino is a bit smoky at times but you will able to find a decent $5 or $10 2 deck BJ table w/ DAS & you will find excellent VP (NSUD, 9/6 Bonus Deluxe) at their bars. Decent poker room and nice sports book as well.

You should check out the LVH Superbook if you are interested in various prop bets for the Super Bowl (they offer hundreds of different options).

NYNY has decent standard rooms, though I like the South Point standard rooms better. You won't find good VP at NYNY bars (or any other Strip bar at the $0/25 level), but NYNY has decent BJ rules (or you can go the MGM which will have the same or possibly better at the red chip level).

Craps is 3/4/5 at most places. You may want to check out downtown to get low limit gambling in. You'll also find several decent bars within walking distance. The Cal and MSS have decent craps, and you can play quarter 9/6 JOB at the Boars Head Bar (MSS - they brew several bear options and it's comped w/ VP play), and they even have decent paying 5 cent VP, but not at a bar.

First timer? Just walk around and be amazed. Maybe catch a comedy show...Carrot Top is great! Cheap $1 beers at Casino Royale. Just walking around and exploring will be sensory overlad for a first timer.

    Welcome Jost!
    Hmmm... non-gambling stuff?

If I were still in my 20s, I'd likely hit the Strat, play some blackjack there for a couple of hours to earn a comped pass to the roof for the rides up there. Hit the LVH sportsbook after that.

If the zip-line is open between the two towers at Rio, I'd ride that - but do this at dusk/early-evening so the strip lights can be appreciated during the ride.
Have a beer or two while at the VooDoo lounge on the rooftop at Rio (that's where you start the ride).

Commit one late-afternoon & evening for downtown. I'm one of those who tells folks to get there during the daylight hours - give you time to bounce through all of the casinos & see the transition of Fremont into 'nighttime". See the light show at least once. Be sure to hit the Golden Gate after the girls start their shift - (I thinks that's at 8PM, but I could be wrong).

Take your friends to the 2nd floor of 'theD' & take over the Sigma Derby machine up there - you'll have a blast!
At MSS, you can get their micro-brews comped while playing at their $5 blackjack tables. Enjoy a fun dinner in their excellent '777' brewpub... you can also earn a 2-person meal-comp there fairly easy, playing as little as $10/hand BJ. Be sure to piss on the Berlin Wall while you're there at MSS.

Both Fremont & El Cortez have $3-min craps, so that is a perfect way for your friend to be introduced to THAT particular addiction!

Depending on the size of your group, it can be a LOT of fun to take-over a blackjack table...some of the best times I've had gambling is when 5 or 6 of us (me & my buddies) take over a table. Things can turn into a mini-party very quickly! (Have your best-man tip the CW really well on that first drink -a green chip for the table- & have him tell her that you're getting married so keep 'em comin'!)

If your longer-distance casino-hopping is 3 or more of you, then use limos! A lot of fun can be had with that as well. Bring your drinks - they don't mind!

On the strip, be sure to check out the CWs at Margaritaville.

(PS - watch out for 'cougars' while at VooDoo lounge! I have no idea where y'all might find non-working 20-something girls out partying...but I'm sure others here can help you with that.)

Have fun & be sure to report back when you return!

Thanks for all the advise. We will be down town at least one night maybe more. I have spent a lot of time down there in the past and will probably book my next trip stay downtown. I have always wanted to check out MSS so we will have to hit that up for some of the micro brews. I have a feeling we will be down there quite a bit for the lower stakes gaming. Thanks again. Anyone favorite myVegas rewards? I have a left over after getting a free night. Thanks again.

    Hi jost, welcome aboard!

I see you are getting some great advice. Super Bowl weekend will be crazy busy so downtown and South Point are probably the places to be for reasonable table limits.

I usually use the MyVegas rewards for rooms. I have gotten a few other rewards. Most of them are no longer available and I couldn't always use them because of blackouts or rules that you are not aware of until you cash them in. I'm not much of a buffet person but my last trip I got the free buffet at Aria and it was pretty good. For my upcoming trip I'm going to try Bellagio and Mirage buffets. Hey, it's free and since I'm going for March Madness my preferred room rewards were not available for my dates. Just make sure you read all the fine print and possibly be ready for a few surprises.

    Good luck on the trip!
