5/31-6/3 Just a quick report to highlight a few things. My first trip ever with kids - all 3 finally over 21 so it was time to celebrate all their 21st birthdays together and my 52nd. We stayed at the holiday inn desert resort right behind the high roller, now normally I wouldn't consider staying off the strip but I was meeting family from NY and my sister has stayed their previously and likes it there, big sis gets to make that call! The rooms were huge, I got a one bedroom suite for me and a 2 bedroom suite for the kids and their spouses. Separate bedrooms, huge living room, dining area and full kitchen. Very nice. Down sides: a decent walk to the strip, I like to walk so it didn't bother me but I think the average Vegas goer would have an issue with it, plus no elevators so if you're limited in your mobility you'd want to request a first floor room, all building have 3 floors. When you check in they try to push time share presentations, a polite no and then one more no and I wasn't bothered again. Overall a very nice property with great rooms. I would only stay there again if family insisted but if they chose to stay there again I wouldn't mind. Staying a block away from Ellis Island and Tuscany gave me the opportunity to visit a couple of off strip casinos that were on my to do list for some time, worth the visit and I enjoyed blackjack and craps at Tuscany. For those of you who hate the trend to 6/5 you can get a $5 table at 3/2 any time. Overall a great trip, the kids did what most 20 something's do when in Vegas and I enjoyed spending time with family I hadn't seen in a while - it was nice not having a family illness or death as the reason to see each other as the past 5 years has had way too much of that. Next trip is already on the calendar! July 24 to 29 with Rush at the MGM on the 25th, can't wait!
