Just returned from Vegas Sunday night and heard that Toby Keith would be playing at the Laughlin Events Center in October. Have only seen him at the ACAs, never in concert so grabbed a pair of tickets (plus any excuse for an additional trip in 2014 (March, April, July and now Oct). Now, I have no desire to spend even a single night in Laughlin (my hair starts to tint itself blue just thinking about it) nor do I want to drive from Vegas to Laughlin and return as I'd like to enjoy adult beverages. I know they have free shuttles from Vegas to Laughlin but suspect they don't run back as late as the concert would end. Thought perhaps shuttle over and limo back but perhaps can get an Events Limo Special from Vegas return. Anyone with similar experience and suggestions?

The only "shuttles" are the day trips, which head out early in the morning and head back later in the afternoon. So as far as a cheap shuttle goes I think you are out of luck.

Personally, I think the best idea is what you are opposed to doing. Grab a rental car and drive over, spend the night in Laughlin, and then head back to Vegas in the morning.

Laughlin gets a bad rap, it is definitely geared toward the more, how shall we say this, mature and budget conscious traveler, but I always have a ton of fun in Laughlin. The Golden Nugget, Aquarius, and Harrah's all provide a nice atmosphere in their casinos, and if you look hard enough there is some decent dining options.

Just checked Kayak, and you could stay at Aquarius that night for $65, and they have a fun casino.

You might check out this bus. I don't know anything about it except what I see on line.
I still think you will need a room for one night.

To just crash and head back there are plenty of cheap rooms in Laughlin.

If you do try this bus, let us know how it is.

    Stay the night.

Add one more day to your usual trip so you get your Vegas fill.

Don't know where the show is. Harrah's is at the far end of town and not sure about the availability of cabs after a show. Harrah's is older. It has the Range for dining.

I looked at the gotobus, but didn't seem like a good fit to me. The bus back to Vegas leaves at 8:00, that's just too early after you've been partying with Toby Keith. The $40 each way seems a little steep too, when you could rent a car and get gas for a similar price.

I agree. I think the goto bus is better for going to Laughlin for a week.
Certainly renting a car is the simplest except for the issue of drinking and driving.

I used to go up on the Rivercity service, but that has changed a good bit. For a week it beat the price of a week of car rental and gas, and I like not driving anywhere when possible because I easily get tired in Vegas and I don't like the possibility of an accident and the hassle afterwards. However, driving to Laughlin is not like driving crowded Vegas highways with tourists who are lost and meandering, drunks who are meandering, and locals who are tired of those two groups and so accelerating into near road rage.
It is a gentle, easy ride. You just need to watch that speed trap near Searchlight and keep at the ridiculously low speed limit.
For short trips the car rental price comes down to being the best buy.
And I'd stay a night in Laughlin, but I like the place, my hair is already grey, and I am not rushed when I go to Vegas. I don't drink at breakfast time and I do better driving when the sun is out.

Amtrak runs a late night bus from Kingman to Las Vegas. It stops in Laughlin at 12:50am. If this time works for you, ask Amtrak if they allow non-Amtrak passengers on the thruway bus.

Thank you all for the replies. Because I really hate to waste a Vegas night staying overnight in Laughlin, I have booked Presidential for $300 total Vegas to Laughlin and return. Not a bad rate to travel in style and enjoy some bubbly along the way.

I was on the "stay one night bandwagon", but since you have booked the limo, that sounds like a very cool trip!

You will totally enjoy the scenic drive from Las Vegas to Laughlin. And it is not too long.

On the ride back, you won't see much in the dark, but it should be fun & relaxing.

    Sounds good!

Did you try contacting the limo driver that posts here on VMB? You might be able to arrange a better rate directly thru him ...

This is a rough drive at night. long and boring & straight as hell, get some sleep on the way back. LOVE Laughlin nice place to relax on the river. NO cattlecalls . Casinos with windows. You feel like u had a vacation. I even pay for rooms at the Riverside. mostly cash comps there. eat for free. Harrahs & Avi have beaches. Even some dollar tables at Avi & edgewater . LOVE IT
