    My Trip Report

The day of recovery is on after our first 2 day trip in almost 20 years, fun but definitely different, but we may start doing some more quick two day trips if airfare cooperates. First off this TR does not have near as many pics as the last as we spent more time gambling and drinking than sight seeing with the short stay time, gotta get all the Vegas fun ya can dontcha know. :evillaugh

This stay was a comp at Luxor, a Players deluxe room, while no where near as nice as the Tower Luxury from last trip no complaints on the room, and some things were actually a bit better. Check in was at the M Life desk, quick and no line unlike the regular check in which was about 40 people deep minimum due to the MAGIC convention. Upon check in you get a, Coupon Book with $800 in Savings, nothing special to be honest outside the free drink coupons for us but others might find it more useful. I suggest using those coupons for a higher end drink to get some real monetary value out them, I used my for a McCallan neat, DW had a Surfer on Acid.

The PD room has the normal but nice dresser/closet/TV storage system with closet space on both sides, 6 drawers for the dresser and top side shoe storage, honestly much like THEHotels THE suite but with a TV storage. This was actually we felt better than the open clothes hanging area and 4 drawer dresser in the Luxury suite. The King size bed was very comfortable, not as good as THEhotels we are used to but not too shabby, good number of pillows and nice sheeting. All in all a nice room even if we were paying for it instead of comped.

We headed over to Mandalay Bay hoping to catch our MMAJunkie Radio buds before they left, no dice there as we just missed them we found out Tuesday when we caught up to them. As we were at MB we decided to hit our lucky Prophecy game and Wild Africa and a few others, MB was the best play we had overall on slots, around 400 up there over the two days and consistently good play on VP and slots. The Prophecy turned a 1.25 bet in to a nice little $375 bonus round with a true Prophecy win on 29 quills, the Wild Africa hit for another $180 on a .75 bet. MBs slots have been really good for us the last three trips and in December we may well do more of our play there and avoid some of the others we have NOT had good luck at.

Off from MB to head to the Riv which we realized we had not been to since 1983 and our first ever trip, and more importantly I had never taken a shot with the Crazy Girls statue :peace: . We head to the Tram to hit a MGM, NYNY and Paris before catching a cab to Riviera and the sky was loaded with cloud cover, that was both days and it even rained the morning we left, a first for us in Vegas. Absolute crap out at all three places on slots, glad MB had done us well. We tried the Lions Share after we waited for the previous loser and burned through $150 with a few $15 hits here and there but not a single Lion showed up. That machine is a Gold mine for MGM the guy befgore us dropped at least $300 and soon as we got off there was another waiting for us to leave.

A few shots of the clouds I took over the two days and DW took many others, it was so weird to have this kind of weather there so we took advantage of it.

Off to the Riviera for this shot.

We played a bit at the Riv but outside DW having one good hit on a Lil Red machine that stop was like the rest had been, losing. It was kinda sad seeing the Riviera now and how far it had fallen being such a classic, it was so much like a low end Oklahoma Casino it was depressing, weird smelling, dim and dirty.

So off to Venetian we go for a bite to eat, this time at First Food and Bar where we had this beauty of Americana gastronomy, Doritos mac and Cheese
    [IMG]

Is it gaudy? Yes. Is it good? Hell Yes!! we mashed this down with a couple of IPAs for me, Dogfish Head and Lagunitas and a couple of the small cocktail for DW. We had a Cuban as well which was pretty dam good, nicely prepared Roast Pork and ham with Bread and Butter pickles (a nice switchup) and done panini style.

A bit of walking around V/P with very mixed slot play, overall about break even, unlike Wynncore we had just left and will like MGM, NYNY and Paris probably see no more slot play from us in the future. As usual the Waterfall area was done up this time for Carnavale

Off to Caesars not to play but to make a quick stop at one of only two must dos each trip, Voesges Chocolates at the Forum shops by Joes. This place makes some of the best hot chocolate drinks to be found anywhere, to hell with Serendipity. Off we head to Bellagio for the Conservatory which we found was the same as the May visit but we did good at Bellagio on slots and VP so that made up for no new display. I started with an $85 hit on .80 for on a new IGT game, Double Panthers I believe was the name with double symbols and stacking wilds, and DW had a good hit on a couple of older games Helen of Troy for $40 on a .25 and another $60 on a .40 Buffalo. I also had a good session of VP hitting 4A twice on the same JoB on 1.25, we basically got back what we had lost at MGM and the others plus a bit to boot. Bellagio is another we have had great luck at the last several trips both on VP and Slots another that will continue to get our business. By this time my battery is running low, damned Android burns more juice by far than my Crackberry did when in roaming it seems. We catch the Tram down to MC and hoof it back to Luxor. To clean up for the nights adventure to come. :peace:

We get back to Luxor and take us what is now common in Vegas a Social Media Kiosk which places are IMO wisely using for free promotion so we have to do the pic and share.

Off to get cleaned up for dinner, some gaming and Fantasy. We had two free buffets from the now defunct Luxor Social Rewards so we figured WTF lets use that for dinner, not as good as the breakfast buffet but they did have some good Sushi surprisingly and other items as well, plus they serve a really nice coffee at the buffet. Off to the floor for some table time, I had a good run on the $10 BJ tables as I finished up near $400 in an hour or so with several BJs in the session and should have stayed there. Off to the Craps table where again my luck was sub par losing around a hundy. We head back to change for the show and let me tell you Fantasy is GREAT IMO. The tix were a comp from Social Rewards and again we had great seats, 5th row nearly center. The women from Fantasy, outside one who needs to hit the gym, are HOTT and Lorena has some great pipes on her as well but she does not strip . During the show there is a break where Sean E Cooper does comedy and the guy is funny as heck and not a bad vocalist either, his Sammy Davis Jr is one of his best to be honest in a comedic sense i have seen. After the show there is a M&G in the lobby and I found out I was FB friends with one of the dancers in the show and had been for quite some time, really cool talking to Tracey and Lorena and the funniest part was Lorena asking my wife about me and Tracey being friends. DW knows I am friends with many models and such on FB and that she was not intimidated or worried was impressive to Lorena, she said many women get upset just by the hubbys/boyfriends getting pics at the M&G. Damn the battery issue as I had no cam to take a pic with those two lovely ladies, but nice meeting them both and talking for nearly 20 minutes with them to be sure. Next time I reckon as we both loved the show.

It is not around 12:30 and we head to our new favorite at Luxor, Cathouse, for a few drinks and some dancing and then to MB for some more play time. Being as I am buzzin buddy I stay away from the tables and me and DW settle in for some VP play where we both do well on several machines. Now DW is a low roller and I mean low seldom will she ever go over .75 on anything and she of all people hit a Royal, but only on 2 coins :grrr: still a nice hit though to go with my several FH and 1 4OAKs I hit. Like I said Mandalay Bay has been a good place for us lately. After the VP session we hit Eyecandy for drinks, dancing and to meet my friends Jai who was modeling at MAGIC. I met Jai via Twitter and never knew I had met a real celeb for suite some time, beautiful lady, fun and intelligent Jai has many movie and TV credits including being a Bond girl. She and DW hit it off very well and we spent till after 3:00 drinking, dancing and talking a great way to finish the night off, we had been up for well over 24 hrs at this time so off to sandman land.

Last day of the whirlwind two days had arrived, and it arrived hungover for me :bang: but with many great memories to balance the hangover and less than 4 hours sleep. Off we head to Four Seasons and breakfast at Verandah. If you do buffets in Vegas for breakfast and do not hit FS you are a fool, it costs $9 more than MBs but is SOOOOOO much better there is no comparison. The Juice if the Day is always great and the coffee is the best in town by a stretch, both come with the buffet. The is second course fresh fruit and pastrys and DWs mini waffles she got instead of buffet, this was after I had killed off Scrambled Eggs w/Smoked Salmon, bacon, sausage and Roast Red taters for the first plate.

We head off to see our buds at MMA Junkie Radio qand catch the end of a press conference for the Jones Vs Henderson fight and shoot the shit with the boys for a bit. We head back to Luxor for some table play and the one Craps table is loaded and the BJ is slow so we decide to burn some time at the pool, despite the cloud cover the temps are nice and the rink service fast in the adults area. A nice relaxing couple of hours of taking a load off the feet, soaking the sun up and chilling, but not too long as we are on a tight schedule. Back to change and grab some lunch/dinner before we begin to gamble. We head to Hussongs after discussion of how long we wanted to take as Tender has a new Tapas menu, Hussongs we decide will be quicker so Tender is on Decembers agenda. Hussongs has some good HH specials and we take in a plate of Carnitas nachos and a roast corn app as well as a few 2-1 Modelo Negras and 2-1 margs, good service and good food like most visits there have been for us.

Off to the floor, the tables are still slow as it is a bit early so we decide to hit some slot play at Luxor. We have some good luck staying mostly even till I hit this on a .5 Whales the third spin.

Not a bad little win to say the least on a low play level and DW had a few good hits as well in the mean time. The one common thread we found on slots this trip is that the WMS Collosal Reels that were so good in May were dead EVERYWHERE and the one bonus round I hit was pretty anemic compared to Mays trip. Now I said since I first saw one that the electronic Craps machines were blasphemous and against all that was good in table games, yeah thats kinda changed. Being as DW was never one for true Craps I thought why not let her try on these as the min is only $2 and it is less intimidating to play. Very much to my surprise I do like this abomination
we played for nearly three hours on one machine and best of all DW had a blast playing this way. I had a great run of 23 throws which made the guy to my right over 1800 dollars in a short time, funny thing was when he cashed out he came back and tipped me, said as there was no dealer I deserved what he would have given a true dealer. The day is running down so we decied to hit the one other must eat every trip and thats the Patty melt at backstage deli my wife loves so much, as usual great and a great beer sponge to boot. Afterward we head u[ to change and then back to the tables to once again work my BJ skills I have been working on the last several months. Once again a great session this time on the $25 table with +800 result in a short time. We finish off the night at Eyecandy for drinks, dancing and talking with new friends and a couple of locals we are freinds with.

Observation from the trip, first off once again this trip showed us we need to stay the hell outta the local casinos as we again spent far more time gambling and even without the table sessions would have finished up on the slots by a good amount. We figured on average here we would have lost our entire Vegas BR in around 6 hours instead of playing for the most part on our slots winnings. We keep a separate BR for tables and slots and once again our slots BR finished up.

Next is the social check in points that MGM and V/P have put in place, yes the MGM one does work and it adds up FAST with frequent check ins on Foursquare, enough so our status is at Gold and only 40000 off Platinum now mainly due to a total of 10000 tier points added using the Topguest program, they send you an email each time points are added on top of all the play we gave MGM props. We were at high level on Pearl and between play and the Topguest we found out on the second day had made Gold and checking today saw how far from Platinum we are. It is a good program to get on if you are not already. This does not help CET players as they as not on the program but for V/P, MGM and Hilton members is can add up quite nicely. Social Media is the new advertising for all these places and they are really catching on to how to use it that is beneficial to both parties, the guest and the hotels.

Lastly some other observations we made. MGM is a mess with all the construction, many machines are down and the Poker room is still moved and now the entry from the walkway from NYNY is closed, you have to down to street level. From our talks with locals we know and employees we have gotten to know there it sound like our fears of THEHotel becoming a South Strip Cosmo may well become true, that makes us unhappy to say the least. Speaking Cosmo they now have the big shoes back on the floor, but the gaming floor was a ghost town, not good for them to be sure with the existing issues they have. There were plenty of gawkers at the shops there but we saw no bags in hand showing actual buying taking place. Wynn is not for slot players anymore it seems, we have made stops there every trip and the last three have been dismal, as Nancy Reagan said just say no. Wynncore it truly seems has went away from Steve Wynn's ideal of the past and is now really marketing itself as party and club central, the newest Vegas Gang podcast touches on this and the new Wynn social media site if you care for more insight on this one. Drink service, the best was at Mandalay Bay, mainly due to Lisa the best CW we have had anywhere, ever, she works the North end of the floor and this girl hustles for her money and she is great fun as well. Look for an older blonde on that end of the floor next time your there especially weekdays, she is actually the first CW who remembered not just our drinks from day to day but our names as well. That girl should start a damn school on being a CW she is that good. Wynns drink service has dropped, MCs has picked up, Luxor's was hit and miss and once again I have yet to be hit up at MGM for drink service.

This is the second time we have stayed at Luxor and once again I do not see what the complaints I hear of are about in the least. The room this trip while not a suite was comfy with great maid service and clean as any we have had. The floor personnel were all attentive and the dealers I had were all good. The Pyramid is not a bad place to stay and even a better place if you want less children and a bit younger crowd.

Can you review a quick summary of the Topguest? I do remember reading something about it & linking my mLife card to a topguest account.

Do I basically just need to have Topguest installed on my smartphone - does it work like foursquare does in regards to the checkins or do I do the checkins on foursquare?

I tried to find the info I found on it before but to no avail. Thanks to anyone who replies.

I have a rest.com for First Food - I know what I am ordering!!! That pic is making my mouth water!!!

Working off memory here but I can check when I am on my home comp to see if I am off on anything. Topguest works off of your Fousquare check in at different properties as well as locations inside certain properties, Eyecandy in MB for example. You do link your MLife account to your social media accounts like Twitter and Facebook and I think others like Pinterest are on there but cannot say for sure since I am not part of that one. Like I said I will check later to see if I am off on anything but I do know it's a simple check in tool via Foursquare.
