I've never been to Las Vegas during the week of Thanksgiving. I'm thinking of coming the Sunday before Thanksgiving and leaving eight days later. In your experience is this an expensive time to go and is it crowded? I'm probably going to split my time between The Orleans and downtown. Thanks.:peace:

In that old thread some are saying how quiet things were... that wasn't how it was when we were there.

It was a couple of years back but the days leading up it was overall kind of quiet and then Wednesday, around 5-6PM, things just got busier and busier - lots of people all over the place and lots of kids everywhere.

For the actual Thursday there were long lineups everywhere during the day and it was by far the most kids I'd ever seen in Las Vegas. For dinner we were thinking of a buffet but the ones at Luxor (where we were staying) and Excalibur had huge line ups so we didn't bother.

Friday was still a little busy, but not as much as the day before and on Saturday the crowds did seem to be thinning out (thats when we went home).

I agree with what Auggie said...

I was there last year arriving on Friday prior to the holiday and returned home the day after Thanksgiving. I stayed at the Paris hotel. The cost for the room was around $150 for 8 nights so I cannot comment on the room rates.

It was not very crowded until the day before Thanksgiving when there was a big influx of people arriving.

I wouldn't recommend driving down the strip on Thanksgiving day. The traffic was crazy all day long. I met someone in line at the Bachannal buffet that said they live local and it usualy takes them 15 min to get to the casino and on Thanksgiving day it took them over an hour due to the traffic.

The only thing I missed by going that time of year was some pool time. I saw several shows and got great seats at all of them.

    Go and enjoy!

Thanks for all the info, this just reinforces my choice to go at that time. Thanks again.:peace::beer:
