    My Trip Report

Well it's that time again :drunk: ...

I'm heading out tomorrow. Thanks to some price wars for the Seattle to Vegas route between Southwest, Alaska and now Spirit, this will be my second cheapest flight ever to Las Vegas. Just $100 round trip on Southwest Airlines. All 7 nights are comped so that makes this a cheap trip out of the gate.

I'm heading down with my sister, her boyfriend and my craps degenerate uncle. I'm letting them all crash in my comp room at the Linq the first two nights... Maybe I should try to pay for a suite upgrade last minute? My sister and her boyfriend are staying 4 nights (they're moving to SLS when I move to my room at MSS). My uncle is staying 3.

We're renting a car so the plan is to do a couple non casino things. I somehow have managed to avoid going to Red Rock Canyon/Mount Charleston and the Pinball Hall of Fame. I'm going to try to do both, but most of you guys know what happens to plans in Las Vegas.,,

Tomorrow night we're going to do a video poker crawl on the strip. I would certainly love some recommendations for center strip VP bars with quarter VP and good drink comps. We're going to do double or nothing on $20 each at 5 or 6 places. Otherwise the first two days are probably going to be light on the gambling. I have some uncertainty with work right now, and the locals have been killing me, so I'm going to try and follow Flusher's lead and stick to a K gambling budget. I'm probably going to stick it to CET and save most of it for Boyd. I have a June trip booked I don't want to have to cancel.

    Plans include:
    2 nights at Linq: Light gambling/Drinking/Pool time/Red Rock Canyon/RR casino/Strip wandering
3 nights at MSS: Drinking/Downtown casino hopping/FSE/Video poker at MSS. Maybe a road trip.I also have a couple VMB meetups on Saturday.
2 nights at Orleans: Gambling or cheap R&R depending on the budget.

I'll do my best to update, but you know how that might go :faint:

Try the $20 trick at The linq for upgrade or just pay, it will be worth it. The rooms are small.

We arrived after an uneventful flight and headed to the rental car center only to find that my sister booked an off site company. We waited a long time for their shuttle. They did the high pressure upsell, but we managed to get out of there eventually. Don't book with economy rental cars.

We decided our first stop would be Ellis Island for the steak specials. We all dinked around at slots and played some shoot to win craps for about an hour before we could get seated. Even on a Tuesday their diner was packed. We all had the special. As always the steak was kind of tough but the sides were all excellent. We ordered their calamari as well. That might of been the best calamari I've ever had...

At check in at the Linq they said they were out of the "deluxe" rooms, but offered to upgrade me to a full suite. We settled on a mini suite (4 of us) which worked out great. A couch and two beds. The room isn't going to impress anyone but it's modern, has two TVs and a nice bathroom that's shower only. A huge step up from the old Imperial Palace. There was no line at check in (7pm).

After check in we hit OShea's for some VP. We lost my uncle after 30 seconds, likely to the craps tables. I spent most of the night playing VP and slots with my sister and her boyfriend. I lost a couple hundred, but had a great time. My favorite spot was the TAG bar. Their beer selection is awesome. Those 9% beers hit you like a truck though. We got back to the room about 3. I'm glad I took a photo of the the room number...

I'm going to take it easy on the gambling today.

Surprisingly I survived the morning. I ended up getting dragged into one of those new TV show focus groups. Then I got convinced to do another one at a different hotel that turned out to be the same show, :evillaugh. I got 50 bucks for a couple hours of my time. I spent the morning and early afternoon doing a little VP at OShea's and the Linq. Minor losses. I took a nap for a few hours and decided to head to Casino Royal to try White Castle. We don't have White Castle in my neck of the woods. Not bad. I had a few sliders with jalapeno cheese. I grabbed a beer at casino royal, hit their $1 fee atm and decided I would give Treasure Island a little play. I never play there. Good call because I hit a few 4 oaks in short order. Now down only $100 for the trip. I spent the next few hours hopping between the Linq, Flamingo and the Cromwell. I played some bubble craps and VP. Donked off a $100. The only thing of note is that I couldn't get a cockail waitress at the full craps machine. I'm going to hit the hey early. We're going to hit up Red Rock in the morning.

Enjoying your post Adam. Red Rock is a neat place (the canyon that is, I haven't been to the casino yet).

I had a great time at the Linq. My play was really light thanks to the awful VP but I made up for that with the drinking and the comp room I'll probably not see again. I liked the smallness of the property and the location. After check out we headed to Red Rock. Good call, but next time I'm not going to attempt hiking after two nights drinking on the strip... My photos don't do it justice. We spent a couple hours gambling at Red Rock Casino. Uneventful other than some more losses. We headed downtown. We had an early dinner at 777 at Main Street Station. Another great meal for 10 bucks a piece... If you haven't done their 3-6 happy hour you're missing out. We spent the evening wandering downtown, we hit a few vp bars and played sigma derby over at the D. I dumped a couple hundred at MSS trying to get some play in. Down $500 for the trip. Hopefully I can turn it around. Family will be in town until Saturday. I have until Tuesday.

I have run like crap at TAG too (no premium quads lifetime). You have seen how slow I can play, but I still probably average retail for those craft beers in losses, if not worse! :(

Hope the luck turns for the better!

I went to Red Rock Canyon with the family. Highly recommended. It's 7 bucks a car to get in which is no big deal. My advice is to do this at the beginning of the trip. A couple long nights of drinking and gambling isn't your friend if you want to go hiking... I thought I was going to die. We messed around at Red Rock Casino for awhile and headed downtown to check in at Main Street Station.

Downtown was really rough on the gambling budget. I gave MSS about 9k worth of quarter action. I got 5 4oaks... I added another $900 in losses. These 90% payback trips playing VP are getting really old... Otherwise I had a good time. Highlights: 777's happy hour (Do not miss this if you are downtown between 3-6pm M-F... The apps are great and so are the portions!). I met Sergiowned from VMB for a little bit of gambling. A good guy who was killing it with the matchplays and video poker. We playing a little bubble craps, sigma derby and VP before I had to call it a day with the gambling. I also took a walk to container park for the first time. It's right behind El Cortez. Pretty cool. I took a few photos. I'm doing 2 more nights at Orleans. I'm going to keep the rest of my gambling to $100. Otherwise it's drinking and pool time for the rest of the trip. I have a meetup with SMerriman in a couple hours for some happy hour pub crawling.

Ouch at MSS. :( Basically as bad as Joe ran. Odds of 5 quads or less is 1 in 1567 for that many hands. :( Were you mostly playing 9/6 Jacks hopefully? DDB should have really killed you with that quad drought.

Get a big run at Orleans going!

Thanks for the update. Have you stayed at Orleans before? We've never been there.
Good luck on the last couple days.
