Surprises all around This trip was to celebrate my wife’s birthday and the planning started months in advance. Since our stay at Aria back in September of last year my wife has wanted to stay there again. I booked a Deluxe City View room through my MLife account for four nights and then used My Vegas for two more nights. A week after I booked through MLife I receive and email from a host who wants to know if I would like to upgrade to a one bedroom Aria Sky Suite. Now, first I think this is a mistake. We gambled at Aria; but, I really didn’t think we ran enough money through the slots to warrant this. Instead of emailing the host I call him and he assures me that indeed the offer is legit and that I would be charged the same rate that I was charged for the Deluxe Room; at that point I take him up on it. I don’t tell my wife about this. I will just let her find out when we arrive. I call Ted at Presidential Limo and make sure he is available to pick us up at the airport when we arrive. Ted is our favorite driver for Presidential and we always call him to see if he’s available when we are going to Vegas. Now that I have the room and limo set up the next thing to do is purchase show tickets. My wife has wanted to see Michael Jackson’s One so I get two tickets for Monday night. The last thing I have to do is make reservations for the Sterling Brunch for myself, my wife, and my sister. Surprise #1 Ted picks us up at the airport and our first stop is Ballys. My wife and my sister used their TR cards together so my sister was only paying $300 for the week. My sister was staying in one of the newly remodeled Jubilee Tower rooms. Here are a few pictures of the room. I really like what they’ve done to the room and with the addition of a refrigerator and coffee maker this makes it a better option than some of the other middle tier and substantially better than the lower tier hotels. Ted takes me over to the Sky Suites where check in is a breeze. I mention to Julie that it’s my wife’s birthday and that I thought staying at the Sky Suites would be a nice way to celebrate. My wife calls me and tells me that they have checked in and are waiting for my sister’s luggage to be delivered. I told her I was checked in and that I would come over to Ballys and we could then come back to Aria. While she was talking to me on the phone the luggage arrived and they decided to just take a cab over to Aria. I meet my wife and sister at the main entrance to Aria and we start walking through the casino. My wife sees the elevators to the regular rooms and starts to turn there. I say “That’s not where our room is.” She looks a little puzzled but follows me. She’s oblivious to the Sky Suites entrance and just walks with me to the elevators. We head up to the 30th floor and our suite is at the far end of the hallway. I open the door and my wife’s eyes pop. Yep, Surprise number one. The luggage gets delivered and then the doorbell rings. Its chocolate covered strawberries and coconut macaroons and a happy birthday to my wife. If you haven’t stayed in a Sky Suite here are some pictures I took. Surprise #2 or Did I See That Correctly One of the things that have become a tradition with us is that on the first day we head to the MGM and play the Lions Share Progressive. We head over to the MGM and find the game but unfortunately someone is playing and they have security with them. We casually walk by and notice he has $36.00 left so we stake out a position and prepare to jump as soon as he leaves. The rules of the game are simple; we each put in $100 and we play it out. Everyone wants to hit the jackpot but we have no illusions. I like it because I can put a lot of points on my card and the drink service is really good. We each take turns hitting the max credit button and we watch as our $300 fluctuates between 180 and $260. We’ve been playing for 30 minutes and no cocktail waitress. We play for 10 more minutes and my sister talks to one of the floor people about getting a waitress over to us. Now all this time we’ve been playing we have seen only a couple of Lions show up on the pay line. All of a sudden we get one lion, then another lion and the third lion…….
