We were thinking of going to LV next weekend but it's St. Patricks Day. Weekend after is Easter and some people get Good Friday off. March madess also going on. If we don't want crowds should we consider waiting until april or going to Laughlin instead? (seems like the March madness thing is more geared towards young and Laughin in winter is older crowd)

I can't speak about Laughlin, but if you want to avoid crowds in vegas, don't go in March. Definitely wait for April

The strip is a zoo for March madness, it is fun but if you don't want crowds you should avoid March in Vegas.

It will be slow on Easter weekend. At least it always has been in the past and hotel rates for that weekend look quite reasonable. So I'd assume this year will be no different. The second week of March Madness is nothing like the first week.

Obviously, I would assume buffets and popular brunch spots would be busy on Easter Sunday. But other than that, and a busier sportsbook, I doubt you'd be able to tell the difference between Easter weekend and just some "normal" weekend.

Good point thecarve - Easter weekend makes sense based on the rates and availability at that time. I must say we were there March 2-9 on a comp'd stay so getting a room wasn't an issue, but it was extremely busy almost everywhere - and good luck if you wanted a room change or last minute show ticket - lol - we finally realized NASCAR was in town, next time we consider a March trip, we'll do our homework first...

CET has a 30% off sale, I'd look at booking further out, you'll save significantly on airfare alone. Looking at hotel rates online, the following dates are really cheap: Sat Mar 26 - Thu Mar 31st.

I'm in Las Vegas now and am staying through the week. It's not that busy during the day and nights on The Strip aren't "holiday busy" like you'd expect. Downtown (e.g., FSE) and The Strip will be hopping on St. Patrick's Day, but again, it's not going to be like Labor Day or New Year's.

Las Vegas is enjoyable for St. Patrick's Day. There's a good vibe and I've been coming for it every year. Many of the eateries have corned beef specials that are tasty.

I hadn't realized St Patricks Day was a big deal in Vegas. My thought was people don't get a day off so why would it be a big travel weekend. But I guess any excuse these days.

Last 2 weeks in March are the best of times and the worst of times in Vegas. Great weather, pools open, non stop basketball. Huge crowds, jacked up room rates. .

I'm headed to town on Monday and I'm praying the big crowds won't start to roll in until later in the week when it resumes...
