Heading to Vegas on Jan 11, coming from Wisconsin with lots of snow and cold, but what should I wear in Vegas in January? I really want to leave my heavy 3 in 1 Columbia jacket at home. I know temps do get as low at 30 at night, but as high as 60 during the day. Any suggestions?

A heavy jacket is not needed. I generally wear a sweater or a long sleeve shirt at night.

We just got back from our trip, and while to me a... Floridian it was chilly at night but I did not even bring a jacket (as every time we go and it's cold out it's warm inside). My hubby left his jacket in the room as to us the casino's are warm and it's way to warm for a jacket...
I like to layer... have fun! :peace:

Honestly if your coming from Wisconsin you might be ok with long sleeve shirts, unless your going to be out in the weather for long periods then sweater or light jacket would be fine.

I'm in vegas for 2 weeks every Jan. Last year, it got down into the teens at night and on some days, during the day, it was 30's and 40's. I find vegas to be cold outside and hot inside during Jan. I usually just wear a tshirt or long sleeve shirt and a light jacket. This is the time of uear where i try to stay center, close to all the props i like gambling at.

Frankly, and I mean this respectfully, but my experience has been that if you're the type person to ask the question (and nothing wrong with that), you should bring a few different options to cover the bases.
You already articulated the temp-swings and rightly so.

I dress for where I'm gonna be, so I often look under-dressed when walking from one property to another, but I don't mind being a bit cold for 15 min. if it means I don't have to keep track of a coat everywhere in the casino. My Mom, on the other hand layers and is always puttin' somethin' on or taken it off... way too much work for me.

I'm with smartone. I wear golf shirts almost exclusively. If it's cool outside, I'll carry a light jacket. Last time in Vegas in winter we had ice rain...golf shirt inside...and jacket outdoors. FYI, I live in Canada where there is snow on the ground 4 or 5 months of the year. No snow means it's golf season!

I'm heading out tomorrow from south Florida and I agree with others that a jacket is not necessary. I will wear long sleeve shirts with an undershirt at night and short sleeves during the day.

I'm a fellow Wisconsinite and will being arriving in LV on the 14th. As an earlier poster said, I find the casinos very warm inside. I tend to wear and long sleeve shirt with a sweater. It seems to work okay. I'm generally a little warm when I am inside and fine when I am walking from casino to casino.

I hit Vegas each January straight from an Australian summer, so I am always in a t-shirt and shorts when I get off the plane. I carry a light jacket for evenings, but find it a hassle taking it off once I am in the warm casinos. i usually just brave the cold at night with a long sleeve shirt over a t-shirt.

Coming from Chicago, and also traveling in January, I have the learned the hard way to def bring your coat. Not for Vegas, but for when you get home. It's AWFUL walking outside when you get back and it's -15. Really. I went to Hawaii once, checked the weather before we left and it was supposed to be in the 40s when we got home. So we only brought spring type jackets. It wasn't in the 40s, there was a major snow storm and it was well below zero. Bring your jacket lol. I wish they still had lockers at the airport just for this reason.

For clothing in Vegas, I plan on just bringing pants and tops, no jackets or sweaters. When you are coming from what we've been dealing with here, the weather in vegas will seem tropical.
