So I am taking my two nieces for their 21st b day, well one will be 22. It seems the best time outside of summer would be the day after xmas for 4 nights or so.

Is it really busy then? Or does it pick up closer to NYE?

!re room rates higher than normal?

We have been to Vegas the last two years for Christmas, flew out on Christmas day and flew home New Years eve. Planning to do it again this year.

The crowds in Vegas seem typical, weather can be rather cold. In regards to crowds. Mount Charleston was packed with cars. Red Rock Canyon a bit busy but not a problem. Hoover Dam was packed.

I did this last year. It was packed at V/P!! That was the first time I ever saw that many people there. It was also very cold the few times I went outside. I still had a good time and would do it again. Not sure about rates since mine were comp. Either way, a trip to Vegas at anytime should be fun for your nieces. Enjoy!!

I get comp as well though I will need to book a second room at a casino rate for them and if my sisters comes...

Good to know that comps not blacked out though thanks

This is entertaining. Because, I live in Mid Ga and the guys in my shop from New York and Penn come to work wearing coats, hats, and gloves. Us locals show up in just our work clothes.

Many shows are black while they're gearing up for NYE. The couple of days prior to NYE the sidewalks can be crazy with folks sight seeing.

I think right after Christmas and right after Thanksgiving the Venetian and Palazzo are always busy! I think a lot of people have those days off work and find it a good time to get away to Vegas. There are usually really good offers to attend NYE parties and November is the month they allow you to cash in your Grazie gift points. I always go to get a bunch of Macy's gift cards to give out as Christmas gifts. Enjoy your trip!

We took the kids this past Christmas to Vegas and I was shocked how crazy packed/busy it was. I was told by a couple cabbies it's because Indians and Asians are on vacation that time of year since its their summer and they don't celebrate Christmas. Anyhow it was busy with a lot more international visitors that other times of the year I've been (most trips I've taken were in sept, Jan, June & April)

We still had fun and I talked to the kids if they wanted to do it again this Christmas and we may do it!!

We normally do LV just before the holidays. Crowds are down and comp rooms are easy to get. However, it seems like right after Christmas the prices skyrocket and so do the crowds.

We've often (but not always) found lower airfare back by flying on the 25th.

My wife and I have done a couple of trips to Vegas between Christmas and New Year's in the past handful of years.
It's a Christmas present to ourselves--the peace and relaxation of not having the kids.
Also, a present to our kids--time with their grandparents and visiting cousins that they don't get to see often.

The crowds were not too bad. We had a really good time on both of those trips. And of course, Vegas had beautiful weather compared to what we left behind in Wisconsin. De-icing delays trying to get out of MSP both times, but smooth flying after that!
