When planning a non-Vegas getaway, how important is it that the destination have gambling?
For me, its of no importance. I go on enough gambling trips, that when I am planning a non-vegas trip, I could care less if the destination has a casino. if it does, I might go. But its never a factor in deciding whether to take the trip
I almost never gamble except in Vegas - the few times we have, we've not enjoyed it. But then, I rarely even gamble much IN Vegas these days. Not much of a gambler.
The only place I game is in the great state of Nevada. Period.
Well, except for that one time I was in NOLA for a conference and went to the awful Harrahs.
who goes on vacation to anywhere except Vegas?
how is this even a thing...?
I like to alternate the sightseeing type vacations with either Vegas or beach trips. Balance is good.
Yep, that's us. We've pissed down a few coins over the years in some of CA's tribal casinos, but it's been years now for that and we find them just so depressing, even if dolled up all Vegas-Lite. (Now a few of those suckers have some pretty damn nice golf courses, like Barona, Pechanga and Yocha up north. And we'll be checking out what's up in Idaho here in a few months.) I walked in and almost immediately right back out in NOLA. We walked through a few casinos in NZ and Oz and thought, "Who flies this far to do this?"
Now get us in Vegas, and we love to play, however piddling our grubstakes have become.
That's just fran trying to be fran.
I do a few local trips to the local casinos for an overnight getaway. Before the kid was born I used to do a yearly trip to Windsor to the Casino there but usually associated with a Bears or Sox game in Detroit.
Now the Casino is a lot less essential with the kid.
It is nice to have a good casino available but not a deal breaker.
I don't really enjoy gaming outside of Nevada. I like to mix up my trips with some outdoorsy stuff and sightseeing trips with my Vegas debauchery. Plus, the husband doesn't love Vegas like I do, so he deserves a trip now and then too.
Went with "It would be nice to have the option, but not essential". I've started to lose interest in the local casinos but there a few regional casinos I'd like to visit. Our major vacations are to Vegas.
After seeing the results it looks like many people consider having a casino is a nice option but not essential when going on non-Vegas vacations.
I think Hawaii should consider having a casino or two since the state is always complaining about low revenue for this and that......
40% don't even want one. A similar number thing it's a "meh" proposition. That's a big majority pretty much OK w/o it.
It would be interesting to see actual revenue figures because so many gambling "solutions" never really pan out for the local jurisdictions. And the ninth Hawai'ian island would fight it tooth and nail and then some.
As a frequent visitor and lover of the islands, the last thing I want to see is McHa$$ah'$ sprouting up all over the place ... don't want to see any, really. Guess they could be consigned to Honolulu.
I like vegas better, they have the more recent slots.. but I go to Pechanga weekly!
If the casino has fair games, and is convenient to get to, I would like to visit. Over the years we have done a little better outside of Vegas than in it. Mag is ahead lifetime in Indian casinos, which I think is fitting for one who has encouraged many young people to be friends of Native Americans.
I indicated that it would be nice to have the option, but except for a cruise once, I've never gone to a casino outside of Vegas. I would hate it if I lost, and I would think, "That's money I could have used for a trip to Vegas."
I recently went to NOLA and the only reason I stepped into Harrahs was because I booked a comped room at one of their partner hotels. If it wasn't for that I don't think I would've gamble on that trip.
Definitely not a deal breaker, but will go if they're around. Just booked a trip to Cincinnati next weekend, will definitely visit Horseshoe and some of the Indiana boats along the way.
Tring are you out there this weekend or the next?
This Thursday I will be going from Southern California to Cincinnati with a trip put on by Harrah’s SoCal (Rincon).
I will try to do a live trip report.
I find myself traveling more to casinos than not. It would probably be cheaper I just went on trips and paid for them without going with a casino group.
I am sitting here wondering why I agreed to go on this trip when I could take a 3 ½ hour drive to Vegas.
The only plan on the trip is a dinner at Jack Binion’s Steak and the Padres v. Reds Game. I am looking forward to seeing the Stadium.
