Link to that story? If true that's once in a zillion other times nothing.

I'm not so sure that it's the person who pushes the button that gets the W-2 G . When I was at a Racino in Florida I didn't use a card because I didn't care, and another guy asked if he could put his card into my machine and get the points. But the pit boss- this was when they had live electronic blackjack with a dealer that was legally considered a "slot machine" at Mardi Gras in south Florida- the pit boss said the persons player card would be the one who gets the W2G, not the player, and warned the guy who wanted to use his card which he then backed off of.

So I'm not certain on that, or if it's state by state. It would seem commonsense that the person PLAYING would get the W-2G, but then again when does the law ever use commonsense?

Has to be someplace you could just play Video Blackjack, even if it was just on one of those Game King machines which only pay even money for a blackjack. Even though it wouldn't be a good table game, it still doesn't offer bad odds compared to other machine plays and you'd never have a chance to hit a jackpot. And, if you were lucky, you might be able to play for hours just grinding away, earning a lot of points for your friend and getting a number of complementary beverages.

I think if they KNEW you were using your friend's freeplay, it could nullify the payoff. On a small payoff, they probably wouldn't make an issue. On a big one? Maybe.

BUT, remember, people leave cards in machines all the time. A drunk person could have left their card in with freeplay active.

It's a gamble playing on another's card, but really only an issue if you win "big," I'd think. BUT I've never tried this, so it's pure speculation on my end. I'd just absolutely stick with the "the card was already in the machine and I didn't notice it" argument. (IF asked, don't bring it up yourself.)

Technically though, it's in the fine print of mlife, no playing off another's card or it nullifies wins, period. (Even if you claim ignorance of the card.)

Not sure this would work because they could easily check when and who entered the pin number to activate the freeplay. While I have absolute zero knowledge of how they work and what their protocol is, I'm gonna go ahead and say that it would be a very rare occasion if someone had left their freeplay active and someone went on to win a handpay on that. Chances are they don't even care whose card is on the machine and they'll just get it over with as long as it's not a significant win like say 10,000+. I'd say that it all comes down to how much they care. They just might say that "alright, I see what you did there, we're gonna let it slide just don't do it again please" but they could just as easily refuse to pay and escort the player from the property and say you're not welcome again.

But as stated above, as long as you're not getting a handpay, chances of getting caught are pretty much next to nothing.

I actually would be very leery of using someone's freeplay, that's why I mentioned mife's fine print....totally agree with you Kolm. I was trying to think of some glimmer of silver lining/possible solution, but I honestly think, unless you're just gathering very small wins, it's a recipe for disaster. (And Murphys law, you don't win UNTIL you're using someone else's card.)

Plus you get into the danger of reporting back to your friend. What if you win big on YOUR money? How would he/she know it was your money versus their freeplay.

I was trying to avoid being a negative nancy, but this has a lot of scenarios that could cause you grief :(
