I'm curious as to whether anyone has ever been allowed to upgrade (with cash) to a better room/suite than your initial booking?

Have been comped in Resort Rooms/Tower Deluxe rooms at Bellagio for the past few years. No point in hoping for a comp upgrade as stay is too long (8 nights)

    Thanks

Not ahead of time. I know some people have been allowed to do this when dealing with a host, but typically you can't do it.

When you check-in, you can certainly see if a paid upgrade is available.

Just returned on Friday, the mlife properties we stayed at were MGM and Bellagio, I was dealing with a host at both properties. Before we left I emailed about a paid upgrade from a queen executive suite to a one bed tower suite at MGM, I was told it would be $30 a night and that I could only request it. That was fine, I put in the request and planned to pay with express comps anyway. When we checked in, we were in the one bed tower suite and were very happy. It doesn't hurt to ask.

I emailed the host directly. He was actually away on vacation but another host replied to my email and dealt with my request.
