I could not find the original thread on this, but here's an update.

The original involved some kind of a limit on the number of drinks that the casino could sell to a player in a certain time. This is at the Horseshoe Council Bluffs, a local casino in the Omaha area.

Somebody here had said there was some kind of limit like one drink per hour, which I knew was not true. I had then asked a bartender and he laughed and said that something like that would be impossible to enforce.

Well, last Saturday I was playing at the Horseshoe and waiting on line at the beer cart. The guy right in front of me asked for four beers and the lady there said that she could only serve him two, but to just get back on line and get two more.

Soooo, I asked what the official story was.

She said that officially there was a limit of one drink every 20 minutes, but they would sell you two as long as one of them was for somebody else.

I didn't ask about the obvious "just go through the line again" request. :)

I know that even this (20 minutes) would be impossible to enforce since there are three bars there (that I know of, there's prolly one in the High Roller area and one in the Diamond Lounge but those are off limits to me) and there's no way that they would know who had how much.

Oh well -- That's the reply I got.

Harrah's AC attempted this over a weekend in May 2012.There was a time limit before you could get another drink and you had to show your ID and players card every time and sign a reciept.Paperwork for the bartenders.they were annoyed and the customers were pretty stunned/pissed.
I think by Monday the bartenders did a sickout and enough people complained about it that they stopped it.

One time a few years ago a group of 8 of us were playing the Sigma derby in MGM. We were all drinking (a lot) but were tipping about $10 per round for the group and were getting great service. Then a shift change with the cocktail waitress. The next lady came by twice, we ordered 2 rounds. She came by again, we ordered rounds and then she said "sorry, I can't serve you guys for awhile. We can only serve you 3 drinks per hour."

The table was having a good time but it wasn't super rowdy or anything...similar to a normal craps table when it gets hot. Put a sour taste in our mouths for a couple of trips. Has never happened in any of my 15+ trips and hasn't happened again.

That would explain a lot about the problems I had with drinks service the last time I went to Showboat AC. It took forever to get drinks and it was impossible to get my buzz on. It was really annoying.
