    My Trip Report

My wife and I promised our twins that we would take them to Vegas when they turned 21. On Monday, we flew out of Detroit on Southwest, leaving 30 minutes late. Took a taxi to (17.30 plus tip) and dropped our bags at the Flamingo and headed to the Stage Door Casino. The kids and I enjoyed a couple of the hot dog and Bud Light $3 combos while my wife had only one. We walked back to the Flamingo and checked in. Our room was a Fab Deluxe facing the strip and the kids had a Fab Deluxe facing the pool and garden. The rooms were sufficient for us-clean, hot water, good air and comfortable beds. We loved the Cromwell and spent a lot of time there. For dinner, we used four free dinner buffets at the Mirage courtesy of Myvegas. We were disappointed. The selection wasn't that great. The free beer was good and the kids stayed awhile when we were done eating-they kept on drinking. We left and headed over to the High Roller. It was pretty awesome.

Tuesday we had brunch at the Hash House in the Quad. It was awesome. Huge portions. My son couldn't finish his meal--this might be a first since he turned 14. We headed over to the Strat so the could kids ride the XScream. We paid to go to the top. That view is amazing. We went to NYNY in the evening to use two Myvegas $50 drink credits at the piano bar. The bartender was really funny and kept a running tab for us. We managed 15 drinks. They were drinking mixed drinks which were strong while I had a draft Shocktop, two Sierra Nevada Pale Ales and a Stone IPA (bottles). We tipped the bartender and hit the casino floor. I wandered off to play slots while the three of them kept the cocktail waitress busy. When we finally left to walk to the busstop my wife was singing that stupid Call Me, Maybe song. We went back to the Flamingo and headed to our rooms. I wasn't ready for bed and was heading for the door when my wife insisted on a little more gambling at the Cromwell. We finally went back to the room at 3:30.

Wednesday, I was up at seven and walked down to Paris and Planet Ho. We all went to the pool for awhile at around 10 am. It was nearly impossible to get a chair. We all walked over to Paris and Planet Ho so they could see them. My wife was feeling a little under the weather, err Vodka so she took a late afternoon nap. My daughter wasn't hungry so my son and I headed to Margaritaville for some dinner. The food was excellent and we were able to use a coupon for a free appetizer I got for liking there Facebook page or signing up for emails. We all went to Casino Royale and Caesars for some gambling. We also attended the Improv comedy show at Harrahs. It was very funny.

Thursday I got up early and walked the strip then we all packed up, dropped our bags at the bell desk and headed over to the Bellagio for free breakfast buffets courtesy of Myvegas. This buffet was really good. The award also gave us a line pass which was nice since the regular line was long. While we were eating they started bringing out the lunch items. We all really liked the food. We walked back to the Flamingo after stopping one last time at the Cromwell. Took a taxi to the airport and flew back to Detroit. We landed at 11:50 pm and I drove us 2 hours back to Ohio.

This was the sixth Vegas trip for my wife and I and the first for our Twins. I think they both want to go back--with people their age.

NIce TR, I don't think I could have handled LV at 21!! Is it a lot cheaper to fly out of DET? We live outside Columbus, the airfare has been on a steady rise since 2009 for LAS!

Sounds like a fun trip thanks for the report. I'm with Ron, I don't think I could have survived in Vegas at 21. I definitely would have needed Adult supervision at that age.

We visited O'Sheas and observed some beer pong. I know my son is pretty good because he and I beat some students when we visited them in college. We fly out of Detroit because it is a lot cheaper than Cleveland (1 hour) or Columbus (2 hours).

Sounds like you've created a new generation of Vegas addicts. Well done!

Thanks for the report. It's always nice to read about family trips that don't involved tons of drama!
