I have heard that you can go to an Mlife desk and show receipts from CC purchases made on MGM properties. Would this work for shows and events I have booked online and paid for by CC? Does it work to show or print off an email of a purchase and then get the tier credits for this? Thanks!

No, they won't do this at the MLife desk - if you want something comped you need to charge it to your hotel room.

If you were a very high roller you might be able to get a host to do this for you, but even that wouldn't be a certainty.

The big problem would be that the CC companies charge the business (usually around 3.5%) to use their card and the casino would have to eat that fee if they were to do this, plus there are quite a few ways that a host and/or customer could totally fleece either the casino and/or the credit card company.

Typically, they will only give tier credits for receipts over $25 (excluding gratuities). I had a bad experience the last time I was there in the fact that the front desk employee told me I couldn't receive tier credits for receipts and that it has to be charged to the room to receive them. However, I went to the Mlife desk and they took care of it for me and spoke with the front desk employee to ensure that this didn't happen again.

The two purchases I have in mind for doing this both will be around $300, so hopefully they can honor that for tier credits. I want to use the Bellagio "O" 20% online offer, and that requires booking online by CC rather than doing this in person at the resort. My other purchase is a couple VIP passes to the Michael Jordan celebrity golf tournament(which is sponsored by Aria) going on next weekend. Once again, I tried to contact Bellagio and order through them, but they directed me to the event itself so I instead purchased my passes online. I realize that it is easiest to charge all purchases to the room, but these were two circumstances where that didn't seem possible, and since they were decent sized purchases, I would really appreciate earning the credits. Thanks for the replies, and if anyone else can share their experiences, I would enjoy hearing them. :peace:

I had to do this a few trips ago, back when Red Square was still owned by China Grill Management. For some reason they couldn't swipe my Mlife card to give me credit (the friend I was with was paying), but the bartender told me to just bring it to the desk at Mandalay and they could add it there. Which they did without a problem.

I think in your specific situation, the best thing to do is call and ask in advance.

Thanks for the input, glad it worked for you. Tried to make a call to Mlife today which was disppointing-was waiting on hold for about a half hour upon which a rep answered and said they are experiencing "exceptionally high" call volume and will return my call in 24-48 hours. :grrr:

I just started with Mlife last year, and am hoping to get off of the Sapphire level and settle in at Pearl or Gold, so the credits would be a nice boost.

Finally got a reply from a Bellagio representative:

So that is encouraging, sounds like it shouldn't be a problem emailing the online purchase confirmation emails. Just thought I would post the word from the casino itself if anyone else was wondering. :peace:

    jacer333,

The Mlife desk at NYNY was very helpful on this subject and photo copied the rules for getting credit for purchases while not staying at an Mlife property. I was staying at the Four Seasons at the time.

The rules were that the purchase had to be over $50 and paid for with a credit card in the name of the Mlife cardholder. (I would guess that is a control point to prove that the cardholder actually paid for the purchase rather than someone else who paid cash.) The receipt was to be brought to the Mlife desk and then the transaction could be recorded to your Mlife account.

Whether this procedure is followed or not would be dependent on the person working at the time and their knowledge base. I can only tell you this is the written procedure. Sounds like the Bellagio Rep is taking proper care of you.

    Good luck.
