Going to Vegas in October (happy birthday to me hehe) and trying to decide between Luxor or Monte Carlo. I've stayed at Luxor before and was happy. I'm considering Monte Carlo for the location.

    Any thoughts?

MC definitely better location. Aren't they in the middle of a renovation? May have remodeled rooms by then.... Good luck!

I also am going in October although this is somewhere around my 30th trip over the many years. I also was deciding between Luxor and MC. I have stayed at Luxor twice and never at MC. We are going MC/Hotel 32 for a change of pace and hopeful new home. Just from my last experience here are my thoughts on Luxor and what I am hoping for from MC.

    Luxor -
Had very friendly dealers at craps. They really were fun to be around which I enjoyed. The sports book was not crazy crowded for NFL Sunday so we could get seats without being 3 hours early. Sports book also was pretty friendly with drink tickets which are easy to redeem at the bar right behind it. Table limits were never out of hand at the Luxor. The Luxor rooms are OK. Nothing spectacular or impressive including the high end tower suite (forget the name at the moment). There is nothing memorable about the hotel aspect of things there but it was adequate. I also was not impressed with the restaurant choices in the Luxor.

MC - We will have some of our group in the MC portion and a few of us in the Hotel 32 portion of the hotel. I am hoping for some cool memories or experiences being in Hotel 32. Whether that is the limo ride, a great service story or a memorable room or view, I am just hoping for something. I have read from reviews and heard from someone I know that the dealers also seemed easy going and friendly which I am looking forward to as well. I am hopeful the sports book is loose with the drink tickets as well ... from some other reviews I get the impression they are. I am hopeful that the restaurants in the MC will be more to my liking and I am curious to try the Pub selection of beers.

I wish I had some more concrete things to say about the MC but I have not stayed there yet. If you have any questions about the Luxor I am sure I can answer them.

Stayed at Luxor last year, it's average in every way. Pool is average at best if that matters. If you do stay there get a tower room not a pyramid room. MC has a great location. Nothing really special about it but they are undergoing some changes that should be done by October.

MC is a better bet, I think.

    Between the two, location.

The Luxor is by no "out of the way", but IMO the center strip location of the Monte Carlo is a plus. Just a short walk south to NYNY, arcross the walkway to the trio, Excaliper, Luxor and MB. MGM and PH just across the street. MGM has monorail stop if that matters.
The same walk to the north you'll find Aria and the tram to Bellagio then a nice stoll to Caesars and Mirage.
By October the new retail and resturant venue between MC and NYNY should be complete, some spots on the Blvd, are already open.
MC has a fun pool area with a lazy river and a wave pool although by Oct. that could be winding down.
Good choice of eats at MC including a food court. The Casino is easy to navigate.
Always found the SPA to be reasonable, I think for $10-$15 dollars you can get away and enjoy a whilpool and a steam, 7 to 7. You can do the same at Luxor, but I think the MC spa is a litte nicer.
Rooms aren't fancy, but there clean and in good repair. Staff is friendly.
Have stayed at each, three time at MC and I consider it a very user friendly place.
Hope this helps, search the trip report thread and get the opinions and experience of others.

    I would choice monte carlo

I have stayed at both, (as well as most casinos on the strip),

I love monte carlo for its pool area(it has both a lazy river and a wave pool0 and location, location, location

I only stayed at luxor once so that I could stay in a pyramid room once, was not impressed with the pool either

I love that I can take a free tram to bellagio from monte carlo, and the trams at luxor do NOT very late, and I tend to stay out to the wee hours of the morning

so my vote is for monte carlo
