I know that the renovated Trop seems to get great reviews. . . But does it still have those rooms that are overlooking the parking lot? I think they were referred to as the Garden Rooms at one time. I don't see them as an option on the website. . . would hate to end up booking one of those and not be able to upgrade Are they referred to as deluxe rooms, and the Paradise Deluxe rooms are in the tower? or vice versa? Just don't want to accidentally book one of those low rises overlooking the parking lot.

    thanks

I am pretty sure that the garden rooms were imploded in 2010.

HAHA!!!!! I just stayed there in the Tower last month and loved it.

This thread reminded me, though, of the first time I stayed at the Trop. Probably about 2005, maybe. I booked the room on Travelocity or Orbitz or something and when we checked in our room had a view of . . . . a rooftop airconditioning unit. Seriously, there was just a wall outside the window and a bunch of industrial duct work. Compounding the crappiness of this room was the fact that our room air conditioner . . . . DIDN'T WORK WORTH A DAMN!!!

So, I went down to front desk to address my grievances and they game me a tower room. We checked in and it was totally different. Had the bamboo-clad furniture, a big clamshell tub and . . . CEILING MIRRORS. My wife looked at me with a bit of disgust and said flatly, "You got the porno room".

I had that room in 2009! My wife had the same reaction.

All I can recommend is to get one of the Best in Class rooms, then slip the front desk a $20 and see if you can get a corner suite upgrade. I stayed here when they first debuted, using the above method, and paid a whopping $55 for the Saturday night.
