Thanks for the link. I'm trying to come up with something clever to say that won't ruffle too many feathers, but at the moment I'm speechless. Even for the Strip, it's hard to believe!

I love the article.... Lol Unreal triple 0 roulette

"Sheldon Adelson is founder and CEO of Las Vegas Sands, parent company of Venetian. Adelson stated in a recent interview with Yahoo! that he is against the exploitation of poor and young people.

“Everybody thinks that because I’m wealthy, all I want to do is make more money. Yes, I want to make more money. But not from exploiting young people and poor people. There’s no principle that I would surrender in favor of money.

This is a moral issue. When we have somebody [in the casino] that we see needs to be treated, we stop dealing to people. I don’t have to hurt people to make money.”

Rolling out a roulette game with a house edge of 7.69% when the industry standard is 5.26% apparently does not exploit or hurt people. A player losing money 46% faster than a normal roulette game is simply a new form of responsible entertainment."

This reminds me of the crapsless craps tables some casinos have/had. You'd get all excited to see an opening at a table, then realize what a scam that table was and why hardly anyone else was playing it.

Part of me thinks that this won't last long, but Vegas casinos have proved me wrong before.

I'm curious if the fact that it's called "Sands Roulette" will prevent this disease from spreading to other casinos. (i.e. Is this a trademarked game that has to be licensed from someone? Or can any casino just install a new roulette table with three 0s?)

I can't see MGM, CET, or Wynn installing a game named after the Venetian's parent company.... although I'm sure they'd love that house edge.

They'll probably try to drive play to this game by raising the limits on 0/00 tables, much like they do with 6/5 CrapJack.

I don't know if they can patent it or protect it in anyway; it is just adding an extra space on an existing layout...not some new side bet. Look for other strip casinos to follow; none will use a name that implies you have to play against a larger house advantage.

Plenty of people will play it without even questioning the odds...

Their version is called 'Sands Roulette' and the triple zero is an 'S'.
Anyone else can make their own version.

Right now they are offering it at the same price as double zero. Not sure why anyone would play it.

Put a $5 differential on the minimums between 00/000 tables and they'll be plenty of players...

I'm real surprised. Then again, I was surprised to see the appearance of 6:5 BJ and its apparent acceptance by the masses. BJ already had one of the lowest house edges, but only against the more knowledgeable players. And I assume that the more knowledgeable players don't play the 6:5 game. Pretty cool, huh? Chase off the good players and raise the edge on what's left.

On the other hand, double zero roulette already has one of the larger house edges regardless of player knowledge. That's why I find it so incredible that Sands would increase it from 5.26 to 7.69%. However, until I see it for myself or read more accounts, I'm not sure I believe it. I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out to be a hoax!

One more reason to turn seasoned gamblers away from the strip and maybe even Vegas. They must expect to get more revenue from the non gaming portion of their businesses.

This is ridiculous. Just head across the street to Mirage for a much better game, usually at 25 min.

Just this past LDW weekend I placed an even money bet on my favorite single zero table at MGM only to have it land on 00; found out the hard way it had been swapped out (they still one wheel with European rules not too far away).

Triple Zero Roulette? Is this satire or real life?

BS Sands wouldn't dare to try in Macau but will hope that dumb drunk conventioneers don't notice and or care about. When I see old vegas photos with strip casinos advertising their good gambling conditions (97% Slots, 100x odds etc.) I wonder how in a world where knowledge and information is in almost everyone's hands people are even more prone to being fleeced.

What's the problem? More ways to win, right?
