    My Trip Report

A little information on the highlights of my trip.

    Transportation:
Rio - Limo from and a Taxi to Las Vegas airport, no problems.
    Monorail - 24 hour pass, 2 people x $13 = $26
Rio shuttle to and from Paris and Harrah’s, no problems.
Hard Rock shuttle to and from MGM, no problems.
Gold Coast shuttle to and from Bill’s and Orleans, no problems.
I will say that at no time did I have to wait more than 5 minutes for any of these.
The Rio shuttle to Paris drops you off right up front by the strip, while the shuttle to Harrah’s
drops you off way in the back and you have to walk through the entire casino to get to the strip.

    Food:
Rio dinner buffet – the best meal of the entire trip (thank you to Westie for the 2for1 coupon).
Ellis Island - $6.95 steak dinner was good.
Hard Rock - $7.77 steak and shrimp dinner was good, $9.99 all-u-can-eat prime rib available.
    Harrah’s buffet was good.
    Flamingo buffet was good.
Gold Coast buffet was good and great if you consider the price, ate here at least once every day.
Orleans buffet was the worst meal of the entire trip.

    Gambling:
Poker at the Bellagio – good game
Poker at the Venetian – good game
Poker at the Rio – good game – 1/3 no limit
Roulette and Rapid Roulette at the Rio
$1 Blackjack at the Sahara – a lot of fun(played for 4-5 hours and lost $20)
Roulette at the Palms, Hilton, Gold Coast, and Hard Rock.

    Sights that needed tickets:
Rio - Voodoo Lounge at night – good view
Paris - Eiffel Tower during the day – good view

I do have a question: Why does the Rio not provide a coffee maker in the room?
When I wake up, I like my cup of coffee, I do not like to go downstairs and pay
$4.00 for a cup of coffee at a Starbucks and then have to wait in line for 30 minutes to get it.
My resolution was to walk across the street to the Gold Coast and pay $6.00 for an
entire breakfast buffet for 2 (wife and I, 2for1 coupon and players card).

Thanks Wizard. It is nice to know that one can get around without a rental. I am going in August and I noticed that the cost of renting a car has gone up. Our hotel has a shuttle to and from the airport, but I need to check if they go to other hotels as well. We are staying at South Point for a bowling tournament, and taking the Duece to the strip looks to be too complicated.

Most hotels have coffee makers in the room, except for Las Vegas. They don't want you to be too comfortable in your hotel room - they want you in the casinos. If I know in advance there is not a coffee maker, I take our small 4-cup unbreakable one. However, now that it costs extra to check luggage on most airlines we may not do that anymore. :evillaugh
