    My Trip Report

Yeah, it hasn't happened yet, but I can't focus at work. I am all packed, with the exception of a few things I need to throw in the suitcase tonight. Finishing up work today, and then the gym tonight. Tomorrow I work until 2:30, then I will cruise to pick up my buddy, and hit the airport. There is a local brewpub/restaurant that has an airport location, that we're going to hit before security, and boarding the plane. 2 hour flight to Atlanta, we'll have just enough time to get something small to eat, do a shot and have a beer. Then a 4 1/2 hour flight to Las Vegas.

We are scheduled to land at 11:40 pm. We'll then take the bus to the Golden Gate, check in, and go to MSS to drink. I plan on getting up the next day to go to the MSS Champagne Buffet before the USA/Ghana game. We'll then gamble and drink all day, and head to the Wyndham in the evening. Ellis Island 7.00 steak dinner and draft beer.

From then on, it is all up in the air, I plan on going to a bunch of things, first and for most is the rides at the Strat, we've been saying we'd go for the past 3 years. I went 4 years ago on them before I was 21.

I probably won't have internet, but I'll see if I can remember what happens.

24 hours from now I'll be leaving work for the airport.... can't wait....

Friday: Stopped at DuClaw at BWI and had dinner and some beers, and a beer sampler. Our flight was at 7:10pm, so we had another beer after security and got on the plane to ATL. We couldn’t land in ATL because there were bad storms, so we had to fly back to Charlotte to fill up. At this point we already missed our connecting flight. Then we flew back to Atlanta. There were about 10 people who were on the way to Vegas also, so we were all grouped together. They had no seats on any other flights but they said they could book us a flight to Charlotte the next day and then fly to Vegas from Charlotte. The person was very unhelpful, and I flipped out and started yelling at him. We ended up hanging out with this guy from Hopkins (Johnny) around our age, and we decided that we would all pitch in and get a hotel room since they wouldn’t put us up. AIR TRAN SUCKS by the way. There were no hotels available close by and it was 1:30 am by this point. We realized we had to sleep at the airport.

Saturday: We slept at a gate that just happened to have a 6am flight, so that woke us up. We looked for a bar, but nothing was open yet. Got some fast food, and decided to see if we could be on standby for a flight from ATL to Vegas in the early morning. We didn’t make it, but we talked to the next person at AirTran aka ValueJet, she gave us passes so we could get to Charlotte earlier so we could at least catch the USA game. We then went to Chili’s and had some early morning Jager shots and beers. After hearing our story, a lady bought us all an extra beer, and we went to US Airways to pick up our tickets. We then flew up to Charlotte on AirTran. Finally we were done with AirTran, and we saw there was a flight that was leaving shortly for Vegas, we waited on standby, but there were only 2 seats, and because our voutcher was for 3 they couldn’t let us go (AirTran’s fault). So we went to another Chili’s to have lunch and a few more drinks. We then decided to wait near our gate, and we found a bar with a decent selection of some local beers, an IPA which was good. Watched the USA game, left, then decided to come back for one more beer. Finally we were boarding, so we got on, and had gin and juices, which apparently the flight attendant didn’t understand what it was, so I described it and sung some Snoop Dogg. Once we got there we picked up our bags, which arrived on the earlier AirTran flight, and got picked up by my parents who had just arrived there. We dropped Johnny, who we hung out with basically since Friday night, at his hotel. We missed the room at the Golden Gate, which sucked but not so bad as it was only 22 bucks a night. I can’t remember if we went out that night, but I want to say we stayed in and relaxed in an actual room. I know we picked up some food/beers from the grocery store. We then stopped at Hard Rock to have dinner.

    Sunday:

We went out earlier and went up to the strip. Stopped at the CocaCola store and had that 16 soda sampler of sodas from all over the world. We bought tickets to the Rat Pack show at the Plaza on Freemont. Then we went to do the CSI Experience Exibit, which was really cool. The girls that work there are absolutely gorgeous, so I recommend that too. When we left there we headed back to the hotel to get in the pool. We went to the Rat Pack show and that was great. I am a huge fan of that kind of music, so we really enjoyed it. We bought the picture with the entertainers afterwards. Joey was very funny as the host. Frank was spot on with singing and movements, despite, not looking just like him. Dean’s looks were spot on, his vocals were a little off, and Sammy was pretty much spot on. Very realistic sitting in the Copa Room at the Plaza, it was well worth it. We paid a bit more for our own private booth. We then spent some time at Freemont, and got the hangover burger at the Binions Café, which was great with eggs on the burger, and hash browns as a side. Then we went back to the hotel room to watch entourage. We were still tired from the weekend, so we stayed in and got up early on Monday.

    Monday:
This is where it gets confusing as we did similar things each day. We worked out on Monday morning at the gym, never to get back there again. We went to the pool during the day. Monday I believe we did the strip with my parents. We went to Planet Hollywood, meant to catch the fountains at Bellagio but they had already ended. We then went to City Center. Played a little bit in Aria, and walked around drinking. I had gotten pretty drunk at this time, but my friend J wasn’t feeling too well, so he stayed pretty sober. We then went back to the room and rested.
    Tuesday:
We went to the strip during the day I believe, or maybe we just relaxed during the day. At night we went to the North Strip very late at night. We went to Encore and played a little roulette, then we went to Denny’s. The server was great we were talking about music and he brought out his phone and played some new music we hadn’t heard, very personable for early in the AM at an empty shift, so we gave him a good tip. Time to get some Four Lokos at the 711 which is just north of Encore. We walked around all night really. Went up to Circus Circus and played a little bit, walked through Slots-of-Fun and walked right out. Riviera was pretty neat, very empty this time of night, and I played the Wheel of Fortune, on the first pull, I spun the big wheel in the middle, I ended up winning about 20 bucks on that machine. I had some pictures of the sun rise behind the Encore as we were just chilling out there. We ended up taking a cab back from the TI to our place at about 6 or 7 am on Wed morning.

    Wednesday:

Wednesday night we had tickets to see Mystere at the TI, so we dressed up and headed to the place. We enjoyed the show very much and had a decent ticket. I’ve seen Love and O before, This was my third favorite, but still a very impressive show. I’ve never been disappointed. After that we went to THE Hotel. I like THE Bar in THE Hotel because the bartenders are knowledgable and the bar is just very classy. They had Duvel, and since I love beers and never had picked up a Duvel, I bought the 22oz, which came out to 17 bucks plus tip. We sat there enjoyed the beer which was served in tulips as it is supposed to. My buddy wasn’t feeling well again so he went to walk around, and I had the rest of the bottle. We left there and went to the Mandalay Bay to gamble a little bit. My buddy was up on the Roulette Machines, but I didn’t feel like gambling too much that night so we just hung out. I believe we went up to the Luxor, and he was still not feeling good, and he wanted to head back, so I ended up just getting picked up by my parents, figuring a little bit extra sleep would allow us to get out earlier the next day. I wanted to head back out because I was fine and felt like we weren’t doing enough that week, so we went to the RIO, my dad and I. Wasn’t impressed by the place, so we left for Toby Keith’s at Harrahs. Payed 7 bucks a beer for PBRs, had three and went home.

    Thursday:

We got up and went out to the strip. We went to Ellis Island first, as we wanted a nice steak and beer in the morning. I had the Amber Ale, which was decent, a little light, but had some decent hop presence. We gambled there for a short while and then stopped at 711 for a PBR. We walked up between Bally’s and Bill’s and wondered around and found ourselves in Paris, we played some slots there and then walked down the strip and played a little roulette at Planet Hollywood (which is our favorite casino to play at) Then we stopped in Monte Carlo. We played a little bit of slots there and then got some food at McDonalds. Got comped a few gin and juices and decided to walk back to the place. We had been out for a while so we rested a little bit. Thursday Night was the Night of Fire event at the Bullring at Las Vegas Motorspeedway. We saw some good racing, a little bit of fireworks, and they used a jet dragster to light a fan in flames. It was dollar beer night and dollar hotdog night so we took advantage of that. We then went home to sleep and get ready for Friday.

    Friday:

Friday we went to the Grand Canyon. We flew on a small airplane with 2 other people from Boulder City over to the grand canyon. We went to the Sky Walk, which was awesome. We also hiked up a spot on the Grand Canyon. We went to a small ranch and did some cool stuff, like throw Axes at a wooden wall, shoot bows and arrows, and saw a magic show up and personal for free. At night we decided to go to LAX at Luxor. I ended up meeting this guy and his girlfriend in line, and she said that she would tell them they had to let us in to get her in, I didn’t know if this worked, but it was better than a group of dudes with no girls. We waited up to the front, but because it wasn’t marked correctly our 20 minutes of waiting went in vain. They pointed us to the correct line, and we decided to pass on the club. We went to Eye Candy with our newly found friends and had some overpriced drinks but enjoyed the atmosphere. By this point we had gotten pretty drunk so we gambled a bit of our money away, and got a ride back to the hotel.

    Saturday:
We never woke up for the Germany game, we were supposed to go to Hofbrauhaus. We watched it from the room as we were very tired. Pool day. At night we met up with my buddy at Caesars and his friends who were belligerently drunk, I didn’t want to stay around them, so we went to the Bellagio to gamble saw a bit of the fountains. We ended up in Planet Hollywood playing roulette for a bit, and ended up getting a FourLoko and buying a 10 minute massage at one of those chair places. About 2 minutes before Midnight someone came up behind us yelling my name, and it was my buddy and his friends, they had calmed down a bit now, and we did a countdown to Independence Day from 1 minute to the time. Security was confused at first, but they figured out what we were doing and started laughing. Even one of the dancers at the Pleasure Pit helped us countdown. I can’t remember what we did for the rest of the night but we just hung out, I was too drunk to keep gambling so I stopped.

Sunday: We got up and headed down to Margaritaville for Brunch. Had the cheeseburger in paradise, doubled, and had that with some girly mixed drink that tasted delicious. Then I had the Lone Palm Ale, which was a Margaritaville exclusive and it was okay, like a Dos Equis Amber. We stopped by the store to pick up two shirts, and got a 6 pack of Landshark which was only 10 bucks. We went to O’Shey’s and I had bad luck. Lost 40 bucks there on roulette, so we left and I headed down to Harrah’s. I bought in for 20, and played roulette on one table, and got up to about 52 bucks. Had four beers during this time, and we finshed up the 6 pack. I played on a 10 dollar table, bought in 30 of the 52 I made, and I had it up over 100 a few times, but then crashed it back down to 30. We played for a good 4 hours or so, and then we cashed out, and went back to the hotel. At night we headed back up to see some fireworks over Caesars, but it was so crowded. We walked up north and hit the Venetian, and ended up at the giftshop just south of 711. Got some Joose, which was decent, and walked to the TI to get some food. There is only a pizza shop, no other quick cheaper food there, so we waited inline. I bought a Heineken, and my buddy’s friends said they were at a suite at the Palazzo, so we went up there and had a few mixed drinks with some vodka. We then headed out. We met a bachelorette party, took some pictures, and kept moving. We walked south, being VERY loud. I was already a joose in and drinking all day, so we stopped at the 711 near the PH and got some fourlokos. We walked though the PH, never ended up playing too much, but then we decided to split off as we wanted to get back at a decent time as we had a flight the next day and had to pack. I tried to push our flight back a day since we still had the room the next day, but it would have been 200 bucks more per person. We stopped by earl of sandwich at the PH, and then walked back to the hotel, despite being warned of walking down Harmon from PH to the Wyndham. We went upstairs to pack and went to bed.

Monday: This is the day I dreaded, leaving to go home. We stopped by the World’s Largest Giftshop, near the Sahara. No one likes this day, and because our flight was at 3, we got to the airport at 12. Because I figured it would be a busy travel day being the holiday after the 4th. I was wrong and we had extra time. We went to Tequilarita or something like that and had 3 beers each, plus the chimichanga, it was great, but the bill was about 50 a person, the beers were pricy. We caught our flight, lost a little bit at the airport, but my buddy won 60 on the wheel of fortune machines. We ordered a gin & juice on the airplane, and the flight attendant brought us a second one for free. My buddy got a third one, which was also free, but I just had water because I was driving later. We got in ahead of schedule, and the Southwest crew was the best flight I had ever had. Only flying southwest from now on.

We had a great trip. I wish we had gotten out to the middle strip more. We never got to the Strat for the rides, Minus 5, or Hofbrauhaus, but we had a blast, and did some things we weren’t planning on doing. I’m not sure when my next trip is, but we are planning a trip to either Dover or Atlantic City in a few weeks to play a little roulette for the weekend. I know we’ll be heading back to Vegas next summer, but I’m not sure what I’m going to do with my week of vacation left this year, maybe another trip to Vegas?...

Great trip report. Sounds like a lot of fun and plus you have things for your trip next time to do. I usually take the things I miss from a trip and add it to a list for next time, keeps it fresh in the memory and gets me through the days in between trips.

Sorry about the Airtran flight issues, not my favorite airline either.
