    My Trip Report

Well, this trip has got to get better.

The drive down was "easy". I left NoCal at 2:30 AM and rolled into LV at 10:30AM. Traffic was light.

Unfortunately, Downtown Grand didn't have any of my type room available, so I had to find my own entertainment while waiting for their call. Well, my luck was no good, and since it was 100 degrees plus outside, I didn't go out of the casino. Had lunch at Stewart + Ogden, the 24/7 restaurant inside the casino. I finally got the call at 2PM that my room was ready.

I took pictures of the "two queen premium room". The rooms are very big, and have two desks, but only one chair! I called housekeeping and they were happy to bring a banquet chair for use at the second desk.

Played the first half of my $300 FP, and to be honest, I'm probably done here for this trip. I put in enough play to satisfy both days, and I'm tired of getting "beat up". I have 13 non-gambling things on my list for this trip, plus making some bonus days at CET.

Tonight at 5PM is the $300 silver strike (token) distribution at QQQQ, then a meeting of the Silver Strikers club at 6PM, and then at 9PM the trading session. There is a social gathering at 7PM but I'm going to eat dinner at Magnolia's. I have decided to "liquidate" all my duplicate $300 strikes, and those I don't sell or trade tonight, I will be turning in. I have 4 extra Mirage strikes that are collecting dust. I'm going to buy at least 1 ozt. of gold, maybe 2 with the proceeds.

Well, hopefully some hand pay action and associated slot porn tomorrow.

    Day one continued

OK, more on last nights Silver Striker meeting/tournament.

The meeting was very short, and on my way out is saw another member and said "See you at 9PM". He said "Well, I have all my stuff here, so I'm starting at 7:30PM." I said "Oh, I guess I'll see you at 7:30".

So, I went back to the room to get my stuff and returned at 7:30.

It was a very sparse turnout, and I guess that everyone was glad that I showed up because one I said "anyone have the new reds/blues for sale to trade?", a lot of guys perked up. Since I was collecting for three other people, I figured that I would "buy my way" into a few sets, which would mean less time for me on the machines.

So, I bought some reds and blues, and waaaayyyy too many other strikes. I had brought money and $300 Silver Strikes to be sold or turned into cash and the proceeds were SUPPOSED to be spend on more gold.

So, I sold and extra St. Patrick's Day 2015 and traded a 2014 Halloween witch for 30 clear caps. I thought, gee, this is great, I'll have no problems selling the rest of these. Well, after that, and due to a low turnout, that was pretty much it.

One of the people that had a lot of $200 silver strikes (1 troy lb. of silver) was not in his normal position in the front of the room. He was in the back near me. I went by his table and we talked and I said "Well, I really admire your stuff, but you charge top shelf money for it.". "Not today, he replied" So, I ended up picking up 2 $200 strikes from him, and another $200 from the guy that shared his table. Add to that a 2013 Japanese Queen $300 from another guy, and now I had acquired more than I had sold!!!

$200 QQQQ Halloween Girl and Pumpkin

    Showgirl_cropped.jpg

    $200 QQQQ Showgirl

    Reno_cropped.jpg

Well, I went back to the room somewhat saddened, plus the fact that I was down 2 days budget after only one day. My spirits would get better on day 2. Not one, but two hand pays!

    Day 2

Well, Sunday came none too soon. We went downstairs for breakfast at Stewart + Ogden (S+O, for all you DTGers).

Breakfast was life sustaining and functional. I actually put in 1000 TC day at PHo, which contributed to my being down 2 day's worth of budget, but the majority of my loss was at DTG.

I went to drop Les off to pick up his car. I went over to Target on Blue Diamond and picked up some necessities that I intentionally didn't pack since I had a car and knew that I could just "go to Target"

So down two day's budget after the first Day. Bad boy!!!! So, I had two choices, gamble strictly on 1/2 day or 1 day budget, or skip a day and not gamble at all. NOT GAMBLE AT ALL????? WTF!!!! NO WAY!!!! I'd just have to "find a way to make do".

So, I went up to Harrahs on the strip. I was pretty much dome gambling at DTG because of the "beating" I took, but I did play long enough to get the promo of the day. . . 2 sets of "Whiskey stones". Similar in function to ice cubes, but they do not melt and dilute your drink.

So, my strategy was to put in a couple of 1000 TC CET days. I wanted to make DAL2 this trip. I was up at Harrahs, pretty much holding my own, between a little up and a little down, and I stopped at a $1 Grand Dragon machine. 10 lines, from 1 to 5 coins per line. On the second pull, I hit the bonus, which led to a W2-G and a hand pay!!! I had just gotten most of one day's budget back.

    404.jpg

So, at this point I'm pretty happy. Back on track. Went over to the Rio and had lunch at the Pho (Vietnamese Beef Noodle soup, not Planet Hollywood) and had duck noodle soup. Very good! Paid for it with RCs, so no damage there, earned another 500 TC at Rio, and a little up due to a small (non W2-G jackpot in the high limit area. OK, I'm at 1000 TC, and this is where I checkpoint and make a decision to either stop, or play for 2500 TC.
Since I had hit the hand pay and was a little up from Rio, I decided to play on.

Went back to the room and took a short nap. Les was already out and about, and said he'd meet me at MGM at 6:45. We had dinner reservations at Emeril's Seafood House at 7PM.

So I drove up to the Linq and went over to Flamingo, where I'd been "treated kindly" on my last trip two weeks ago.
Well, the machines must've remembered this, and took revenge on me. I had quickly dropped back about 3/4 day's budget. I was ready to take my beating and leave, when up popped

    20150628_174321_rotate_sm.jpg

Yep, another hand pay. That put me a little ahead. Now why can't these come just a little earlier in the sessions so it doesn't feel so much like "work"?
So, I tipped the slot attendants, and checked my TC at Flamingo About 850, which meant that I only had about 650 to go after dinner to make 2500 TC.

Had dinner at Emeril's. All I can say is "WOW!!!". A wonderful dinner. We split the seafood platter appetizer. Huge King Crab legs, 4 pieces of Scallop ceviche, 8 oysters, and 8 BIG shrimp. I had the seafood pasta, and Les had the redfish. We split a Boston Cream Pie for dessert. An expensive meal, but mLife Express comps paid for it. Les left the tip. (He mad me promise to let him leave the tip, since we use my comps almost exclusively when we travel.

Traded PMs with Pleepleus. He had just gotten back into town but was being a "good boy" and not coming out toight

So, I drove to PHo, where I was supposed to meet a young lady that I had originally met at DTG. No, not a meeting like that. I was walking behind her and her boyfriend and she was talking about working at PBR Rock bar in the outside section and it being so hot and no one wanted to eat outside and she usually hid inside the door. I asked her where she worked and told her that I'd come by to say hello.

So, I did, and she wasn't there. She didn't start until 9:20 or 9:30PM. Oh well, it was abut 8PM and I had 650 points to accumulate, so I stayed and played.

I went to the High Limit slot pit and played in and in the vicinity. Played for about 90 minutes and made the 650 points (700 just for good measure). I was plus or minus $100, and my 2500 TC day was met. Time to go see Elle and then go home.

I saw Elle, hiding in the back. It was more crowded than I gathered from her comments. I told her "You almost had me feeling sorry for you, it's not THAT empty".

She said that they weren't sitting in her section. I looked and the section that she was in had nary a person sitting. I told her that I came by just to say "Hi!" as I had promised and gave her a $10 "tip". She said "You're not staying to eat?". I told her that I was just an "old guy that doesn't drink alcohol, and it was getting past my bedtime".

Went back to DTG and cashed in the TITO that I had. Counted my money and I was not down a little under 2 day's budget. After two days that wasn't bac, but I would still have 3 days to go.

    1st 3rd of Day 3 - Now I'm scared

OK, so when Les left at 4:15 this morning, I couldn't get back to sleep. I decided to use some of my Free Play at the D and Four Queens. I was also going to try to complete some red/blue cap sets.

I made $125 at the D, and took it over to the Four Queens. On $600 ($500 plus the $100 from the D, please $80 in FP from QQQQ, I got:

54 Silver strikes, including 3 red caps and 5 blue caps.

I now have a set of 60 clear caps to leave with a friend for Halloween.

I went back to Downtown Grand and checked out. It's a nice hotel, but that two block walk is murder in the heat.

So, I went to Caesars. The Augustus entrance is Seven Stars only, so I didn't attempt to get in there . . . yet.

Went to Diamond check in and there weren't any rooms ready yet, so I went outside to "play".

OK, so there's this machine that I played last time that I screwed myself over. Black Velvet 7s. 9 lines, 1, 2, or 3 coins per line. $1 Well, what I forgot to notice is that depending on whether you bet 1, 2 or 3 coins per line, you would be allowed certain payouts.

I was determined that I would definitely bet the maximum ($27) per spin. On about the 5th pull, I lined up 3 red sevens. Oh boy, bonus!!!! Well, not, but it was even better . . .

    BlackVelvet7_rorated_small.jpg

Another hand pay this almost brought me even since I was down just short of 2 day's budget. I went over to the Wonder 4 machines and hit another small jackpot, which put me up a little over $2300 at Caesar's. I am now plus or minus $500 for the trip. I'd have to audit the silver strikes to be sure.

Now, most of you might say "STOP PLAYING" and "PROTECT YOURSELF", but I'm here on a comp, I'm getting generous FP (which I haven't collected yet, plus, I need to put in another 2 or 3 2500 TC days.

I'm going to take a break and go over to lunch at Harrah's Oyster Bar. I also need a picture of the machine that I hit a hand pay on yesterday.

It's not even noon on the third day. Sheesh!?!?!

    Hi DaiLun:

I apologize if I missed the amounts but when you hit the Velvet 7s handpay did you hit the minor progressive, and if so what was the amount? I have never looked at that machine before and I was confused.

Congratulations on your come back (so far). You noted with some regret that you would have preferred to have won earlier instead of later. I, on the other hand, usually feel I win a sweeter victory when I come back from a deficit and even make a profit -- not that I have any choice in the matter.

Well, I couldn't sustain it. I decided to "go for it", the 2500 TC day, and even though I made the 2500 TCs AND DAL2, it cost me. I am now down 1-1/2 day's budget and I'm done for the day. The good thing? It's the end of day 3. (for me that is)

Unless they have WW4 at Trop.

Came back to the room and the host had left a fruit platter. I haven't seen hime for free play yet, but I will when I drop off his gifts tomorrow afternoon.

Heading of for dinner with Pleepleus.

I was hoping to see a few pix of you and Plee together with funny gestures, Hangover style!

Thanks for sharing DaiLun, your knowledge and enthusiasm on the Silver Strikes always dazzle me. Do you actually do this as a hobby or to make money, or both? Is there really good profit involved?

Good luck for the rest of the trip, I hope you hit a few more hand pays. Stick with Plee, he has a magic thing for getting hand pays, I witnessed it in person back in late April lol.

Good luck for the coming days!
What I also leant from DTG is that their slot machines never pay! I would say theirs are the worst in downtown.
