    My Trip Report

*edit I apologize for the length, I just started typing and this is what came out LOL hope you enjoy it*

Well our trip started off as 2 couples heading to Vegas as this was supposed to be the last relaxing trip before my fiancée and I had to buckle down and get all the wedding stuff finished off before the August date. About a month and a half before we were set to go the other couple broke up and only one of them ended up going with us, which was fine with us; we enjoyed the company. That left me, Casey (fiancée) and Shawna (Casey’s bridesmaid) headed to Vegas on the 12th. Well as luck would have it I got a really bad head cold 2 days before we left for our trip and it really stopped me from drinking too much. As this would turn out to be the first time I have gone and never actually got drunk, I’m really not sure if that is a good thing or not lol.
    Saturday
Casey and I had a flight leaving Seattle at 12:40pm, we get there around 11 and it’s a breeze through security. Casey did get selected to go through the body scanner but it was no big deal at all for her. Had a light lunch at the airport and then right as we were getting ready to board they let us know our plane has a mechanical issue and instead of making us wait to fix it they have another plane for us but it’s all the way on the other side of the airport. We make it to the other plane without any issues and we take off about 10-15 minutes behind schedule, which our pilot makes up in the air. We pretty much land on time around 3 in Vegas. Shawna doesn’t get in that night until 9pm or so, so we decided to have a date night and we had dinner reservations at FIX and tickets to the 10pm show of O. We had a limo from Presidential Limo waiting for us as soon as we got to the baggage claim area but we were going nowhere fast because of the BYU SD State game that started at 4 at Thomas and Mack. So we sat in traffic for a bit but it was ok as we just relaxed and enjoyed the complimentary Champagne provided for us. The driver took us by the Hard Rock hotel and we asked him to stop at the CVS so we could grab some 5 hr energies , bottled water and some snacks. Now we were off to the Mirage. There was a bit of a line at the check in counter around 4pm or so, I think we waited about 15 min to check in. I tried the $20 trick to upgrade from the basic room to a suite but the lady said their suites were fully booked already but she was able to get us a deluxe tower room on the 25th floor with its own elevators. We get up to the room and our keys don’t work, great… I go and chat with the housekeeping lady working 2 rooms down she comes over and tries our keys in the doors and still doesn’t work so she calls security to come let us in. Well we waited about 5-10 minutes and another couple comes up to the same room and their keys work. Not the best first impression Mirage. Well the security lady gets up there and calls down to the front desk and they tell her that our room is a basic room and we are on floor 2, all the way at the end of the hall. My fiancée is livid at this point so I send her off to the new room and I make the trek back down to the front desk. I talk once again with the lady I spoke with and she said there was a mix up in the computer and she apologizes, she said she was able to move us to the 24th floor with a volcano/strip view and near the elevator. She also had a bottle of champagne sent up and her manager came over and gave us a $50 food and beverage credit for our stay. I have the fiancée meet me down at the elevators again and we go back up to the 24th floor this time. We head down to our room and our keys work this time lol, thank god! It’s not 5pm and I turn on the TV hoping to catch the end of the UW Zona pac-10 championship game and find out that UW came back to tie the game and send it to overtime which was amazing as Isaiah Thomas hit a fallaway jumper as time expired in OT to win the game for my dawgs! I went crazy and was jumping around the room as Casey just laughed at me lol. Time to get ready for the night out and because we had the credit here at the Mirage we decided to cancel dinner at FIX and just eat somewhere there. We ended up at Stack, which was just amazing! Both of us ordered a steak and we were really impressed with both. We got a bottle of wine and an appetizer; and the bill was around $200 with tip. Headed over to the Bellagio at around 9 for the show, picked up the tickets and went and played a bit of wheel of fortune which I lost $100 at and then Casey wanted to try the sex and the city slot, she lost but I hit some bonus that kept going and I ended up winning about $50. We then sat down at an electronic Roulette table which became one of our favorite games this trip. Now when I play roulette I have a system. I play that seems to work most times and I usually come out ahead, I play the numbers 7-30 on the inside for about $2 a number and when one hits I make $24 dollars. Well the electronic machine makes it easy to place the bets and even easier when you are on a streak to double your bet  Anyways I ended up with 2 drinks and up $100 in about 15 minutes so we headed on into O on a hot streak. O was decent, some cool things going on, I’m still not certain what the whole point of it was but my fiancé loved it and that’s all that matters to me. Headed back to the mirage and met up with our friend watched her play paigow for about a half hour and then Casey went to bed around 1. I went back down to the paigow tables and bought in for $300 and was playing about $60-100 a hand, got myself up to $950 and said if I win 1 more hand I’ll stop for the night, well figures I ended up losing the next 2 hands but still cashed out up $450 for the day and headed to bed around 2:30.
    Sunday
Woke up around 9 am Sunday morning and went down to the pool just to enjoy the sun for a bit was down there about a half hour until Casey and Shawna woke up and we ended up going down to the Mirage buffet for breakfast. The buffet was alright pretty standard for breakfast fare, did have a good omelet though. The girls went up to get ready and I hit a double deck blackjack table where I preceded to get up to 800 from my $300 buy in and then lose it all plus another $200, not a good start to the day! Then we were off to walk the strip around 11:30 and on a mission to find this new game I had heard about on here called Mississippi stud. Walked through Harrahs and didn’t see it but did stop to play a bit of slots didn’t hit anything at all, walk down to IP and stopped at Rockhouse bar and made a mistake. All 3 of us bought those 85 oz guitar drinks and we threw 5 extra shots in each one, boy was that a big mistake as they were a pain to carry around and we didn’t end up finishing them lol. Walked into IP and watched the dealertainers for a bit while drinking and playing a bit of the slots then it was time to move on down to Flamingo where we sat at a paigow table for a bit and got destroyed in 4 hands and then we looked around a bit and found a Mississippi stud table. 2 other ladys were sitting down playing and then helped us learn the game. It was a lot of fun and only left down a bit after about an hour and a half then it was time to head back to the Mirage and get ready for dinner @ Casa Di Amore. They have a deal where if you call and make a reservation they will have a limo pick you up at any strip hotel. It’s a small little Italian place that feels very old school. Had 2 older gentlemen playing the piano and violin and singing during dinner. It just so happened to be half price wine night so we had our fill of wine and damn good Italian food. I had the Chicken Marsala, Shawna had the Lobster Ravioli special that night and Casey had the chicken parmesan. All 3 of us cleaned our plates easily, Casey also ordered a Canoli for desert because if you do you get a free t-shirt. Then it was back to the hotel. We played around on the paigow tables for a couple hours and I cashed out up $300 and then headed over to TI looking for some lower limit tables so Casey could play with us since she wouldn’t play anything over $10 limit and preferred to play at a $5 table. Walked over to TI and didn’t see anything we liked so decided to Cab it down to bills for a bit. Down at bills we were able to find a $10 single deck game we liked near the front and we sat at that for an hour or so and then went down to check out bally’s. Bally’s was pretty full at it’s tables so we ended up going back to the mirage and Casey and Shawna went up to bed. I played Paigow for another hour or so and was up $100 and called it a night around 2 am. Set my alarm for 8 am and then headed to bed.

That was pretty generous. Usually they just say, sorry and change the room key.

The Sex In The City machine was indeed fun. When we played my wife was losing money and I was cashing in on the bonus rounds. We played a few hours each day as it was really run.

We saw the O show twice. It is such a great show.

I had set my alarm early so I could cab over to Cosmo in order to get our room with the best view, Casey woke up while I was getting ready and she wanted to go as well so we didn’t end up leaving until 9:30. Walking into the Cosmo all I could say was WOW, which I ended up saying a lot during our stay there as it is absolutely beautiful. I really liked their video walls they looked great! Anyways I was able to do the $20 trick and the lady hooked me up with a Bellagio/Strip view Wraparound suite and told me she would call me when it was ready so we headed back to the Mirage and played a little bit of slots while waiting for Shawna to wake up. With the deal we got, Cosmo was sending a Limo to pick us up at 1pm to bring us to the hotel so we got a late check out from Mirage. Went over to BLT burger for lunch, both Casey and I had bacon cheeseburgers which were really good, I also had the all nighter spiked milkshake which was delicious. Stopped at the mlife desk and asked them if they could take anything off our bill and they were able to take off $100 from our stack dinner and we went up and packed. We were also able to get another $100 off in express comps when we checked out. Then it was off to the Cosmo. Our room still wasn’t ready yet at 1:30 so we decided to walk around the hotel. Once again wow was repeated multiple times as we walked through the casino, we ended up taking a lot of pictures of the chandelier bar and the glass light structures above the tables and everything else. The vibe at Cosmo is really nice to, it seems to be a classier PH vibe, everyone there seemed like they were having a lot of fun and the staff was incredibly nice and very engaging when you talked to them. We played for about an hour until the room was ready and then headed up to room 3278. The room was fantastic and the view was amazing, I’ll try and post some pictures up later, I can’t think of a better view though. I could see all the way up to TI and down to MGM from our terrace. We putz’d around the room for a bit then went and played a bit in the casino until dinner where we decided to do the buffet we had heard so much about. I’ll say that the dinner buffet lived up to everything I’ve heard and it’s easily the best buffet in Vegas. Their small portion dishes are very nice, everything we tried had lots of flavor to it, the prime rib was fantastic, they had a Mac and cheese bar which my fiancé loved and the desserts are crazy good. I would recommend it to anyone who asked. The girls then went back to the suite to watch the Bachelor and I walked down to MGM Grand to see how it was down there played Paigow there until the girls were done and met up with me. We went over to visit the Tropicana seemed pretty busy there and I liked what they had done with the remodel, the sports book there looked really nice. Walked over to Excalibur in search of a lower limit game and found a $10 3 card table where I hit my first straight flush ever in that game and ended up cashing out up $600 or so. We called it a night after that and headed back to the Cosmo.
    Tuesday
We decided to sleep in on Tuesday and didn’t get up until after 10, once we were ready headed over to PH for drinks and earl of sandwich. Casey went off to shop in the Miracle Mile shops and Shawna and I found a Mississippi stud table where we played for a couple hours until Casey met back up with us. We then decided to walk down to the Tix4tonight booth and see what’s available, we were deciding between peepshow or Penn and teller and peepshow was sold out so that made the decision easy for us and we bought 3 tickets to Penn and teller. Walked back up to PH played MS for another hour or so and Casey and I both went back to Cosmo for a bit. We made reservations at voodoo lounge for that night and then headed over to the Rio around 6. We picked up our tickets to the show and the box office was able to upgrade us to the main floor seating. We headed up to dinner at the voodoo lounge. Dinner was decent; I really liked the lobster bisque. The 20 oz rib eye I had wasn’t all that great and the steak we had a couple days earlier at stack really put it to shame. We got some great photos from the lounge up there then headed off to the show. Penn and Teller were great, was my first time seeing them, thought they were really funny and had some great tricks. Afterwards they pose for pictures and sign autographs for everyone, which was nice. We then wandered around Rio but all the tables were full so we walked over to gold coast which is a dump and we had our first bad dealer all trip. We sat down at a Paigow table and this dealer didn’t say a single word for the 45 minutes we were there. It was really bad, even the other players were commenting on how weird it was. After that we walked over to Palms to check it out and played some 3 card, I wasn’t a big fan of the palms gaming area but we played for a bit before leaving and took a cab to Aria. I really liked the look of Aria and I didn’t feel it was too dark, like some people do. We didn’t play at all though as the limits started at $25 on up, hopefully I’ll be able to play their next trip. We headed back to the Cosmo and wanted to play the big wheel of fortune game but it was full so we sat down at the rapid roulette table. We played for about an hour and I ended up winning about $500, after that Casey went to bed and Shawna and I went to play blackjack, Shawna lasted about 45 minutes at black jack and I cashed out another 200 up and we decided to go to bed. Headed upstairs and counted my cash and ended $400-up for the trip and I was very happy about that.
    Wednesday
Last day was pretty uneventful, Shawna was down to only $200 left for the trip and decided to either lose it all or triple it on roulette so she put $200 down on black and won and then let it ride and it hit again so she went home with $800. After that we checked out and headed to the airport. Flight was on time and uneventful.

    Notes
Was a really great trip despite the minor setbacks at the airport and the Mirage. Both Casey and I came home with more money than we took down which was a first for me, woot free trip! ;)
Cosmo seems to be the place to be right now, it was by far the busiest casino that we saw all trip, it’s also the best looking casino on the strip as well IMO. Btw Vegas as a whole seemed pretty busy everywhere we went.
Mississippi Stud is a fun game, I’m glad we don’t have it up here though I would play it all the time!
The new mlife seemed pretty useful to me at least as a low roller I was very happy I was able to get stuff taken off my bill. I also was able to make Pearl pretty easily which I was also happy about so hopefully I’m getting better offers for our next trip in the fall!

Great report! Seems like you had a great time. And did you get home in time to see our Dawgs beat Georgia!

But, I've got to tell you, I scream at our big guys who always seem to get good feeds underneath, then bring the ball down so anybody can mess up the play. And don't get me start on the stupid fouls!

But wait! This is a reply to your trip report. I visited the Cosmo last month and liked the vibe as well.

Great report. You did a lot in the time you were there! Seems like you are both friends with the bridesmaid. It is nice you still extended the invitation to her. I am sure she appreciated it. Great job on a winning trip! I sure hope I will be able to say the same thing when I get out there!!

Nice report! I keep hearing more and more how nice the rooms at Cosmo is, I have yet to see them myself. We were in Vegas in December in time for their soft opening and although there were a lot of computer glitches, etc, my husband and I were quite taken by how friendly the staff were and how lovely the casino is.

You had some good gambling luck and great meals, glad you were able to make some money from this trip, you'll need it for your upcoming wedding! :haha:

    Thanks for posting!
