Hey guys 2 year long lurker hear! Ever since my first Vegas trip being 21 I have been reading these message boards right before I go on my trip for tips/advice. Anyways I decided to make account to see if if I can get some help. We are looking for a hotel to book for 4 nights Feb 20-24 (Wed-Sun). We would like the hotel to be around 600$ for the 4 nights so it left us with these options. (Ti,MGM,Monte Carlo,NYNY, Mandaly bay). We are all in earlier 20's 22-24 and four of us will be going. Each of our bankrolls are around 1,000 for the 4 days. We have stayed at Ballys and flamingo our last two trips but we decided every time we go we want to stay somewhere new. We don't go to clubs we usually just drink and gamble all day and night long. Anyways thanks for your help guys I appreciate it the people here are amazing always get me hyped for my vegas trips!

I would rule out MB because it is so far south, and the big nightclub there won't open til April. Plus, if you get more of a walkable hotel, you can save on cab fees. Also, would not stay at NYNY (although it may be the cheapest) and TI. Personal preference. That leaves MGM and MC. I like MGM better as a hotel. But MC may be better if location is what you are looking for.

TI-- i know nothing about... so no suggestions on that.
Monte Carlo--- i like diablo's cantina for drinking... but I don't know if they have the early 20's vibe.
NYNY- definately a younger and party hangout.
MGM Grand --- probably gonna be the best quality rooms since they recently renovated them. I beleive their standard rooms and the bathrooms are bigger than NYNY. I've been staying here my last few trips. They have a couple cool bars/ drink service is decent. If I want some cheaper tables I run across to Hooters. (NYNY is just as easy of a walk to Hooters casino as well).

Have you checked out the prices of the Mirage (prices are usually around the same as MGM)? I really enjoy that casino for some reason but I've never stayed there so I can't comment on the rooms. Plus its across the street from Casino royale.. if you want to do some low rolling and buy cheap drinks.

Don't forget to add on the daily resort fee for all those places when calculating the price.

Thanks for the help I did go ahead and check the mirage and its almost 200 $ more for the hotel. Must be location? I think im really leaning towards the MGM, for some reason I thought Ti would be popping place to be, I thought it was in a great location and a younger crowd.

I've stayed at all those places. Agree with VegasKing that you rule out MB for location. And rule out TI because it sucks.

That leaves you with MGM, NYNY, and MC, which all basically share a location.

For your age group, I'd not choose MC -- and I've stayed there my last 3 trips, so I don't have anything against it. It just had an older vibe -- a lot more couples. I don't think I saw any groups of single guys there on any of my trips.

Between MGM and NYNY -- I personally like the NYNY casino for hanging out better. And the VP bar in the center of the casino is better than anything MGM has in that regard. Both properties have clubs, but neither are on the high end in that regard, so I'd call it a wash (and they're across the street from each other anyway.) Food options--both are good. Sportsbooks, both kind of suck.

But in the end, the MGM is a nicer hotel than NYNY by a pretty significant margin, so I think that's your very clear cut choice among the options you have.

Yeah I figured Mandaly bay would be a bad option because its in the boonies. It seems like you guys and all the recent reviews really like the MGM. is the walk pretty far to the middle of the strip? (Ceasers,PH,etc....)

So I just did a quick search of prices of all the locations you are looking at and for $84 a night MGM grand would definately be my choice(that includes 2 comped buffets). If you do some searching around you can probably find promos that will drop the price even more. Since you guys are drinkers and gamblers.. Like I said before drink service is usually very good(especially at the tables) and you can usually find a good assortment of $5-10 minimum tables. If any of you guys have an mlife card I would check their site to see if you get a discounted room rate

Thanks for the help I appreciate it and MGM is looking very nice as it would only cost $383(AAA discount) +$80 resort fee. So around that $470 ballpark. Is it only about a 10-15 minute walk to the middle of the strip?

Also, you may want to look at PH and Mirage for comparisons.

Yes I just did a triple AAA discount and It came out to around $470 with resort fee's. Im happy you said the drink service is good at tables because that is what I usually focus on. I don't think any of us have a "Mlife" card I will ask though.

Depends on your definition of middle. Personally, I think it kind of starts the middle of the strip -- a lot of people would call it south -- but for me, it's the southernmost end of the middle. You could walk to Bellagio in under 15 minutes, though, so to answer your question, yes.

Beleive it or not the aaa one is not the best price. The 30% off one on the bottom left of their homepage is a couple bucks cheaper and includes the 2 buffet comps(thats about another $40-50 value)

if the four of you are planning on staying the the same room I would consider spending a couple extra bucks and getting the queen suite if there are any available. There are 2 queen beds and one person can sleep on each side of the sectional sofa. Plus a bigger bathroom and the room itself is a little bigger

It's easier to just take the monorail up to the middle of the strip from MGM.

People are quick to rule out MB because it is physically far south. I however believe the opposite. Get on tram that goes to Excalibur, from excalibur get to MGM tram station and go wherever you want all the way up to harrah's then it's easy to get to Venetian if you desire. However, that being said other properties you listed are a shorter walk to MGM tram station. And MGM itself would be a good option. I would entertain MB however simply because gambling at MB, Luxor, and Excalibur can be a ton of fun and a lot to offer in those 3 hotels.

I would go with TI or MGM. I've had family members who are in their mid 20's who stayed at TI within the past year and they had a blast. They were close to everything they wanted to do and they loved the overall vibe of TI as well as the area around it.

I stayed at TI several years ago and I enjoyed the everything about the place.

My only experience with MGM is in their casino and restaurants. I've always had a good time there and I probably lost a few lbs from all the walking.

    Have a wonderful trip!!
