    My Trip Report

I'll preface this by saying that I've only been to Vegas twice (obv), the first time for work for a convention and more recently for fun!!!!!!!

Okay, background: Myself (M 26, 2nd trip), my best friend (F 20, 1st trip), my aunt (F 56 2nd trip), and her friend (F age? 2nd trip) decided to go to Vegas for a breather before the summer hit us again. We live in Maine and our jobs are heavily reliant upon the tourist industry (like Vegas), and we all needed some relaxation before then....

Skipping over all the airport drama at Newark (NEVER flying out of there EVER again)...

We arrived in Vegas on Wednesday night (about 30 minutes late) and make our way from Neverland to the main terminal and found the car rental shuttles. We (stupidly) rented through Fox ... NEVER again.

Upon arriving at Fox, I was told I was "upgraded" from a Chevy Impala to a Chrysler 300!!!! :rolleyes2:

Umm....I *HATE* Chrysler ... no.... I *abhor* Chrysler/Dodge vehicles. I politely declined the upgrade and asked for the Impala which I had reserved months in advance. No dice. All that they had was the 300 or an SUV... which was ALSO a Chrysler..... Now, I know how stupid this sounds... but when I make a reservation for a vehicle and manufacturer I trust and am given the COMPLETE opposite, I'm a little mad.

But, after being on the plane and in airports for 17 hours at this point, I give up and decided to just take the stupid 300. We go outside and have to fill out a damage waiver. Ummm ... the damn car looked like it was attacked by a wild animal... scratches, dents, paint chips... we were out there 10 minutes going over the car (what was left of it) and the employee finally stopped marking little x's indicating damage and just drew a GIANT X over the picture of the car (lol). I signed and we were on our way.

My boss had timeshare points he needed to use up before 4/1 and with the number of rooms we needed we were only able to get into Club de Soleil with such short notice. I had read reviews on tripadvisor, etc. and wasn't expecting much. WRONG. As soon as we pulled into the resort, I was pleasantly surprised. It was clean and classy. I checked in (around 8:45 pm or so) and the front desk person was really helpful.

We got to our room (incl lockout studio) and they were great! It was like a two bedroom apartment with full appliances including washer/dryer/stove/microwave/dishwasher! Everyone else was beat from the flight and went right to bed...not me ... off to the Orleans I went!

I'd never been to the Orleans, during my first trip we were confined to the main strip (Luxor to Wynn). I really liked the atmosphere here....great "vibe", beads everywhere, happy staff, happy guests, the band that was playing was AWESOME! I sat there til midnight just listening to them play. The whole bar was on their feet dancing (or trying anyways lol). When the band took a break, I headed back to Club de Soleil to get some rest.

I woke up at 6am (9am MY time) and was ready to go. The girls were still fast asleep. I turned the living room TV on with the volume waaaaaay up to make sure they didn't sleep in

Once the girls were ready, we shot right up to the Stratosphere (via the freeway...yeah...that's right....I'm not afraid of you LV drivers!!! I learned how to drive in Chicago, so busy highways dont freak ME out. Can't say that for the other three in the car though...lol)

    Anywho.... pic for prosperity....

We no more than made it up the escalators before my friend, "J", sees a Hello Kitty shop!!!! We spent the next HOUR walking back and forth in that TIIIIIIIIIIINY 5 foot long junk pile of a store. "ooooh, look at this! ooooh, I want this". I guess 20 is still pretty young right? lol.

She's cute though, so I forgive alot...

As we're walking around I see this....

I asked my friend "can we get one?" :evillaugh

"only if YOU wear it" she says.... oh well, maybe next time....

Anywho.... once "shopping" *cough* worshiping *cough* was over, we caught up with other girls. Apparently they had no luck on the slots ... oh well. I'm a touristy tourist and slots ARE NOT my thing. Off we go to the Sahara...

    (more soon...)

I'm going to have to finish this TR in pieces, I'm on the mend with bronchitis and sinusitis....

Anywho...Sahara....not much to brag about. Not dumpy. Not the best. We ate at one of the restaurants (buffet was closed :grrr:) and the food was okay. Drink service was sloooooooooooooooow to say the least (45 minutes in between checkups) which is a bummer for my caffeine addiction. The waitress still had the nerve to hold her hand out for a tip....lol. ummmm...no. My Aunt was a waitress for over 10 years and said that if I took more than a dollar out of my wallet she was going to have to beat me.....lol. Anywho.....after eating we stopped for some random DDR (dance dance revolution/video game)...

Gave up on that when the "mat" sensors were damaged and didn't read steps unless you STOMPED your feet real hard (which was funny to watch my 95 pound friend do!).....

Girls said slots sucked here too...but she still smiles for pictures!!!!

ALMOST had to buy a Monte Carlo....

But since the whole pasties thing didn't work out in my favor, she didn't get the car....lol....it's almost like we're married!!!! :evillaugh

I kinda liked SOME of the design at Sahara. The architecture in 'Vegas is one of my favorite thing about visiting. Some of the design is very beautiful... [IMG]

After walking for what felt like forever with full stomachs we made it outside! What's next???????

    Circus Circus!!!!!!

    Walking.....

    and walking....

    and STILL walking...jeez!

    FINALLY we made it!!!!

I dare say this was a really cool site to see walking in the front(?) door of a circus themed hotel/casino... [IMG]

OH! And I can't forget the Merry-go-round slots!!!!
'cuz nothing goes together better than watered down mixed drinks, the smell of butt, screaming kids, and a merry go round with slots on it!!!!

    TIME TO GO!

    ....great view!!!!

Next on the tour...The Riviera....or as I like to call it....lowered expectations!
    (soon)

I'm loving the pics so far. I haven't been in the Sahara or Circus Circus in years; it looks like they haven't changed any.

Would you expect anything less from a rental in LV?

I'm ashamed to admit this...but I've never rented a car before that...

I've always had MY car wherever I've gone... just didn't have the time to drive from New England to Vegas and back...

But, I'm really not exaggerating the condition of the car. It was pretty bad, by the end we were calling it "the boat" as it reminded us of the lobster boats back home...lol.

eta: oh, it also had a power steering problem so every single time I turned the wheel it SCREAMED "Look at me!!!!!!" lol. Niiiice.

    Okay...quick post in-between coughing fits....

    The Riviera....aka Lowered Expectations....lol.

    and...

The second pic was me trying to snap a REALLY hot chick, but my friend hit my arm when I clicked the button...:grrr:

That was about all that was worth looking at....lol. See! Told you it was quick!

Oh, also, by this time the girls were getting VERY upset with the fact that they weren't winning ANYTHING at slots....NOTHING! lol. So, I told 'em to spend money on food and souvenirs instead.

We walked past some tables and I started getting this funny feeling...I wanted to sit down and play Blackjack....just not here. lol. (More on that soon).

Sorry I'm writing this in snippets, but I've REALLY sick for 43 days now and the meds aren't offering much help. I promise to keep 'em coming though, I like sharing my experiences in Vegas. I do enjoy my time there!
